I can't stand that term for USC. But yes Celtic, I can't

Mar 6, 2016, 5:08 PM

stand USC athletes, chicken or coot. Diversity is a good thing.

Go versatile Tigers, pick names that you like

That's good, too

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is a legitimate word but not considered taste in certain

connotations. But let's not belabor the problem. Is the word Lady Gamecocks legitimate?

Go friendly Tigers, variety is the spice of life.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wait, how is "Coot" in bad taste?

Mar 6, 2016, 10:05 PM

It might be a little annoying, but it doesn't mean anything gross.

You are teribly confused, it is not like you, generally you

Mar 7, 2016, 10:28 AM

make sense. I responded to OSF concerning ####. I use coot in most of my references to USC athletes. Regroup man, don't go on like this, seriously. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you. :)

Go all Tigers, coots are coots are coots always.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have begun to hear it in conversations. Sounds weird.

Mar 6, 2016, 6:16 PM [ in reply to I can't stand that term for USuC. But yes geech............ ]

And I agree, not a term I want to use.

Mar 6, 2016, 6:42 PM

Inclusion in Merriam-Webster is certainly in the near future.

Is there at least a good story about how it came into use? I never remember the term being used in 90's.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought it was a Tigernet creation

Mar 6, 2016, 7:10 PM

might have to find that old Tnet dictionary post.

Any intended insult that makes you sound like an uncle-effer for saying it is no insult at all.

I remember it being tossed around in the EARLY days of Tigernet.

Mar 6, 2016, 10:25 PM [ in reply to Re: I hear it from people I know for a fact don't Tigernet. ]

Like when there was only one board in the late 90s.

tater (for Clemson students and athletes) has been around since at least the 1960s, maybe longer. I was born not liking coots.

Go traditional Tigers, taters aren't bad, especially sweet and candied.
