More trickle down liberalism...in Biden's $2.25T infrastructure plan

TAX INCREASES

Biden’s plan would finance projects by:
— Raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, one of the measures that over 15 years would cover the cost of the infrastructure program and then help to reduce the budget deficit.
— Imposing a 21% global minimum tax, so that companies cannot avoid taxes by shifting income to low-tax countries.
— Making it harder for businesses to merge with foreign companies to avoid U.S. taxes, a process known as inversion.
— Eliminating tax breaks for companies that shift assets abroad, and denying deductions for offshoring jobs.
— Imposing a 15% minimum tax on the income that corporations report to shareholders.
— Eliminating tax preferences for the fossil fuels sector.
— Increasing IRS audits of large corporations.

Those are not necessarily disasters AFAIK, except maybe the last one. This is type of big government bullying that is counter productive. The government's blood sucking lawyers have infinity amounts of money and time to threaten, investigate, and penalize corporations (in many cases for no legit reason) and it is a huge conflict of interest and assault on taxpayer funding. Been there, done that - and the government lawyers will tell you exactly what I said "they have more time and money than you do."

Nothing about rolling back Trump cuts or increasing marginal rate over 400K?

Our gov't relations guy just sent me the blurb.

This is the Infrastructure bill. I believe they are coming for the personal tax increases as well, but not sure which bill will have that fine print. :)

If they leave that bit out of it, I'd be for a big plan to rebuild roads and get some high speed trains or something. Tax the living #### out of any company that takes govt bailout funds once they're profitable again, I don't care about them.

Though I'm sure maybe 1/50th of the total cost would go to actual infrastructure improvements and the rest will be funding 100% for lifelong violin lessons for underpriviledged trans midgets with red hair and whatnot.

California has a shell of a high speed rail system

Charleston to Greenville with a stop in Columbia, I would use it easily 20 times a year.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that would certianly help pay for it

Mar 31, 2021, 2:19 PM

20 times 50 bucks a ticket is $1000 find a million or so other people that want to do that too and viola, it's partially paid for.

An actual American First package huh

Mar 31, 2021, 2:01 PM

But sure. Let's defend the multi billion dollar corp who fires American workers, hires sweatshops and sends all profits off shore so they can't tax it.

It's capatalistic Stockholm syndrome.

This seems like it would entice multinational corps to move headquarters outside of the US.
