Socialist logic re: weed from here in Ol' Virginny.

So Virginny has legalized weed. First Old South state to do so. Yay, right?
Not so fast.
It will be legal, regulated and taxed beginning in 2024 BUT, the bill contains a multitude of social justice provisions, including giving priority for licenses to those who have suffered from criminal enforcement of weed laws in the past. In other words, if you are a former smuggler in jail for 50 years for having tons of weed, not only does your record get expunged, you also get first dibs on opening up your legal weed store.
Socialist logic at its finest. Coming to the federal government sooner rather than later.

I would imagine that those people might have some expertise to open up a weed store. Plus they served time for something that Virginia is now saying - hey, maybe we were wrong about all that. Seems like small enough compensation.

Once lil'APMette gets through school, APM lookin' HARD at a return to Sakerlina.

All together now....kewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwl, man.
Also opening soon, fun stores, just across the border, on every major highway in Virginia! (Because, capitalism, an inadvertent side effect of Virginia socialism.)
Once we were oppressed by The Man, but tomorrow, we profit! Peace and Love!

And it will be capitalism that sustains the current black market trade. You think Quashwan in section 8 housing or Peanut in the trailer park are going to voluntarily start paying taxes on the weed they're pimp?
Honky please.

Well, the obvious idea would be to spam every border crossing with pot stands the way they did with fireworks stands on the South Carolina border because the boomie stuff is legal here and not so much in Georgia or North Carolina, or the way they had wall-to-wall tattoo parlors in Gastonia, NC and Commerce, Georgia because tattoo parlors were illegal in SC....
Supply, meet demand, and all that.
Socialism can indeed create inadvertent capitalism.

I thought the other states were what was meant.
Anyhoo, Bristol TN/VA has been interesting during these times. COVID restrictions are different in TN vs. VA and weed is different in VA vs.TN.
There’s only one “medical marijuana” dispensary outside of the crescent. Where’s that? You guessed it. Bristol.
Dharma Pharmaceuticals.

enough to do something even though the government has said they can't. That's a tough thing to do.
So I don't have a problem with them getting first dibs, but of course I do have a problem with criminalizing production as well as taxes and regulations. F*** the government at all levels.

Weed, I don't have much trouble with.
Most drug dealers I would personally shoot in the head and walk away whistling. They literally profit off destroying human lives and their products are a plague.

The only thing I don’t like is hearing “all the extra tax revenue we will collect.” Basically because all the other taxes will also go up, and the quality of life stays the same. It’s a fake excuse to get more people on board.
I still remember when SC was trying to sell the population on the Lottery. They said that we could get rid of property taxes on cars if we got the lottery. Well guess what.

I am all for people having their records expunged. Nobody should have to pay their entire life for a crime they did the time for.
And anyone who has been paying attention, being th first full legal dixie state, it will be a major pot tourist destination. Invest in the dispensaries that go IPO, you will be thanking me.

I do not invest in dope, likker, and the like.
If I did I would already have Constellation Brands and others in my portfolio.
