So, about that redshirt on Watson

Hear me out a second guys. If Cole is our starting Q.B., which is pretty much a guarantee at this point, why not put Watson as the third string Q.B. and redshirt him unless needed. Schuessler looks like a decent second string guy, and if an emergency comes up, they can always pull the redshirt off of Watson at any time. I wonder if Dabo is willing to roll the dice. That being said, a R.S. might not even be important because there is no Q.B. to separate Watson from on the depth chart now.

If you don't give Watson some in the trenches play time you don't have a Kelly to help out in the 2015 start. You either have a RS Fr and a true Fr (Israel?) or something like that. Both green on the field.

Or what if starts off slowly. Some of the better RS Fr. didn't come out of the gate guns blazing.

No, he needs to play early to be prepared for this year if Cole gets injured and for next year. This is already going to be something of a traditional year on offense. Don't want the same thing next year with a QB who has never seen a live snap at the college level. And if you redshirt him he's likely going to have to run the scout team which limits his chance to actually learn and practice Morris' offense.

We're not deep enough and without the depth, he needs valuable real game experience. Long term, may open the door for some valuable '15, '16 4/5 star recruits at QB.
