Refs aren't the issue

Jan 2, 2019, 5:00 PM

Look, refs aren't the issue.
#1 - they called a bunch of J-Hi and Sr High games on cold rainy nights to get a shot at major CFB. And before they got to D1, they started at D2,D3. So they do it because they love the game.
#2 - every call they make or don't make is analyzed and re-analyzed many times via conference supervisors.
#3 - all reviewable calls they make are reviewed via instant replay.
#4 - PI calls are by nature the most subjective, and some will be made in error or missed in error, but it's not because the ref is out to screw a team.
#5 - Refs worked hard to earn their spot. If they abuse their spot, they lose their job. It's that simple.
#6 - Do you think the NY6 and CFP ref names get picked out of a hat?

I disagree with every point you made.

If you'd like to substantiate your reasoning, feel free.

I'll be happy to counter.

Wait- I'll do you the honor and go first:

Duane Heydt . Ron Cherry.

FTW.

Explain to me how’s it if they know the rule book better than average people, they still get instant replay calls wrong?

I'm not here to argue how refs are or will be. I know others, as well as me, have talked about and expressed our concerns over cheap shots and targeting and everything else. The biggest thing is the flag cannot be thrown until after the fact which can be too late to save a player that may get a concussion from a hit to the head or another injury. When or if it happens it cant be ignored and the refs must call it so they let the teams know they won't accept it. The other thing they can do is give a verbal warning to a player before it gets out of hand or talk to the coaches. Either way it will be nice if the officials take charge of the game but don't have an obvious impact on the game.
