Recruiting at RB?

Apr 28, 2014, 9:20 PM

Who are we currently recruiting for RB for 2015? I was hoping we'd land Tajh Griffin but I missed this and I guess he committed to Oregon:http://recruiting.blog.ajc.com/2014/04/24/nations-no-1-apb-commits-to-oregon-over-clemson-ohio-st-uga/

I know we have some talent at RB but I'm hoping we land an elite RB, I thought the CJ Spiller effect would still have some hangover for getting the elite RB talent.

Mikel Lands-Davis
Ty'Shon Williams

Spelling is probably shaky on both of those names as I'm going from memory. I personally like Williams.

it's not really a priority due to a less than stellar crop for 2015 and we have numbers. Feaster in 2016 is the whale we're chasing.

Our depth next year will be:

Dye, Gallman, Brooks, Choice, Davidson...so, it's not a real pressing issue.

Lands Davis is a sleeper. Kid looks good on film. I'm not buying Griffin to Oregon until he signs. West coast is a long way from home and it's way early. Like someone mentioned before the big dog is in 2016 in feaster. A must must get.

What about Adam Choice, CJ Fuller, and Oglesby

We have some of the best RB depth in the country. Almost our entire backfield were 4 stars. I don't know why anyone is complaining. When you can't get 2 freshmen as talented as Choice and Olglesby on the field, your program is doing OK. Dye and Gallman are going to be studs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where do you get they were mostly 4s?

Apr 29, 2014, 11:25 AM

Dye 4 brooks 4
Howard 3 gallman 3
Davidson NR
Choice 4 to RS
Oglesby and fuller NQ

I don't see choice red shirting this yr unless he gets hurt in fall camp. Kid is gonna be productive by the end of season. I'm not expecting anything from Dye until he actually plays. Hard to expect dye to be dominant coming off of this injury at least this yr.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty sure Gallman was a 4 star by some services***

Since when are Oglesby and Fuller both NQ?

They haven't even finished their spring semester yet.

Everyone fogetting about Kurt Fleming? Van Smith?

Apr 29, 2014, 4:50 PM

I think Fleming may prove to be a power up-the-middle kind of bruiser that we are expecting from guys like Gallman too. Not necessary a breakaway runner. But a guy that will get solid short yards and steal two or three extra with defenders all over him. He looks like a good blocker too.

And I thought we were still considering Smith as an RB option but it's early yet to decide, I guess.

Fleming could be T. Boyd replacement for go to guy on 3rd and short or 4th and short yardage detail. Another John Riggins type back. If given or break to the second level with a little running room, will pickup tons of yardage once he gets his wheels rolling. Suprising defense with big yardage runs, with taking it to the house runs every now and then.

Van Smith is safety all the way. At camps he's been in DB groups. Fuller will also be a DB at Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought I read here somewhere Smith

Apr 30, 2014, 12:49 AM

would be tested at RB. Can't find it though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just offered another 2015 RB

Apr 30, 2014, 12:38 PM

He doesn't look like a Gallman or Dye, but I guess the idea is to build up head count.

https://twitter.com/ShawnFurlow33/statuses/461540513225904128
But on a fast look it seems he is speedy. A Davidson replacement?
