I was 12

I remember going apeshit when Terry Allen broke off that 70 something yard TD run after FSU brought it to 21-7. Dad told me I was going to jinx them. Only kicked FG's after that, so he might have been on to something.

I was 37 when that game was played, and I actually remember game well bc I was living in Honolulu then, and there was a few minute delay in the game even though it was called live, but that game started at about 7:30-8 pm in Florida, and it was 2:30-3 pm in Hawaii. I was talking to my 1st cousin on the phone, and he was telling me the score before it had happen on TV in Hawaii, and I hung up on him, and left my phone off the hook until after the game, bc he was ruining the game for me LOL...
Anyway, it was a good game even though I was getting it a few minutes after each score had happen. And FSU was making it a game in the second half!!!! The PuntRooskie wouldn't have done Bobby Bowden any good in 1989, but I bet that Danny Ford was looking for it during the entire game in 1989!!!

I was living in Cambridge Massachusetts at the time, a long way from rural South Carolina, and I truly felt happy watching that game.

Magdi ElShahaway, the FSU nose tackle that year, is now on the staff at UGA. He is a great person and was nice enough several years ago to give some insight into that game.
That year FSU lost the first two games, the first one to Brett Favre’s Southern Mississippi team and then Clemson just destroyed them. They went on to win the rest of their games that year and they obviously had a very good team. Part of the fun of watching that 1989 game is realizing that was a very good Florida State team that got blown out. They ran the rest of their schedule. From the FSU perspective, they always look back and think what could’ve been if they hadn’t run into those first two games in 1989. That long Terry Allen run did put the dagger in that Saturday.

That was the "ohhh oh 0 and 2" game.
At the end of the game the Clemson fans were doing the warchant, just changing the words a little bit.??
This was at the early portion of our dynasty run (14 years, top 4). At that time, no Nole fan could have seen that run coming.

Yes. That was awesome. It was my senior year and I was in the band. My wife who had graduated the year earlier was sitting with me in the band and started the F-S-U----ohh and twooooo. The rest of the band started it and for almost the whole fourth quarter the Clemson fans ( who were relegated to the two end zones practically) cheered that every time they tried their chant crap. It was one of the best moments I have ever witnessed.
At the end while walking to the busses to go to the hotel, an old FSU lady came up to us and complained "why were you making fun of our cheer". My wife replied "that was for that punt rooskie crap". Never been prouder.
In the paper in the morning the headlines front page in large block letters were OHH & TWOOOO. I still have that clipping somewhere.
Great times .....

that's great and all but the objective is to finish with a 1 next to the team name, not a 2, 3, 4 or 5. So one could say they consistently failed.

Plus 1 for your thoughts and effort, but that Vid is so blurry that I just couldn't watch it, but thanks for posting, and I'm sure that the quality in that Vid is ok with most, but I'm spoiled to ultra HD, I already have vision impairment lol!!!

No intimidation at all that day . I remember Danny’s smirk most of all when the spear was planted . I think he knew they were ready for a #### kicking

I remember sitting in those wooden bleachers in the endzone that were the equivalent of a very nice high school stadium. I couldn't believe that Fla. State had a stadium like this. They were supposedly a big time program. PS: I dropped my jacket below the bleachers and watched one of the under the bleachers strolls grab it and run before I could get down there.

Call them what you want to, but I call them smart. They were under there waiting for anything that mostly visitors dropped out of their pocket or whatever. Wallets, pocketbooks, change, clothing, and so on. They get it, and they were gone before anybody could get to them!!!

Was there myself, I lived in a townhouse in Charleston, 2 of my neighbors just happened to be coaches daughters, Van Der Hayden and Oliver, sat with the coaches families and parked beside Ed McDaniels family, what a great trip!
