Iowa State only selling 50% of available tickets. I assume Clemson looking into measures this fall to protect fans and athletes.

I don’t see the difference in them running on the field and them sitting next to each other during the games

I think the idea would be to keep the players safe by not having everyone gather around them.

tradition since 9/11. This will give them the excuse they needed. I know the players and coaches hate it. Maybe not hate it but it really complicates things after the game. Trevor and DAbo need security escorts every time. and the other teams are always surprised by it.I say in an effort to trade off we should introduce back the balloons in exchange for meeting at the paw.

I agree with you, the coaches and players may not hate it, but they would prefer to be able to safely get off the field. As a person who has worked the games and been involved with trying to police the gathering at the paw, I can tell you it is not the best situation in the world. Parents just turn young children loose, it's the parents going after the players and coaches. Sure the kids do too, but it is mostly parents. I have seen people tear knees and legs up hopping the wall, even seen them injuring legs trying to go back over the wall and not use the exits. Think about the equipment managers for both teams trying to get things off the field after a game, they have to dodge fans with big pieces of equipment that it is all they can do to control the equipment as they are rolling it off the field. Then you have the numerous people who are throwing balls and running their routes to catch passes putting people in danger of being run into and knocked down, hitting people with the balls. It is a dangerous situation down there after a game and it is uncontrollable, even with all the police present down there after a game.

I say that tradition is now long gone. That really sucks. All because of a virus the Chinese allowed to spread to the rest of the world. I hope the tradition comes back, but I'm not holding my breath (unless of course you are coughing on me).

We should be lucky if this is a problem. Most likely there just wont be any games due to the virus.

Agree. We can accept not running on the field after the game but not even playing the game is another thing entirely.
Tee it up. We are ready!

You mean STORMING the field after beating lowly NCSU?

and not acting like we've been there before? And asking Paul Finebaum to join the broadcast on Tuesday to discuss it? Is that what you're referring to?

ignorant know-it-all's at espn spout their pompous, mis-informed sarcastic remarks when they see the fans on the field. It lets me know who and who has not done their homework or is lazy and end up making themselves look like goobers bc they don't' know what they're talking about. It happens year after year too. Someone needs to update the team notes page at ESPN. ITs usually guys like finebaum, jim mora, or mark may that you can peg with that description. Lazy research but big mouth/crap opinions.

The one thing I will say about this is that there is a difference in the way our fans enter the field after a blowout win over SC State compared to an overtime win against NC State. That's going to be for obvious reasons of course, but when our fans literally storm the field in excitement after a win it does give the same sort of vibe as a team rushing the field after an upset victory.

Absolutely. This isn't a black or white thing.

Yes our fans are allowed on the field, and yes it's a tradition. That said, sometimes it's a fairly low key gathering and sometimes its 100% a field storming. The only difference is that ours is permitted. It's still rushing the field when it occurs in that manner and its exactly the same as a field storming anywhere else except its permitted at Clemson and we are more prepared to deal with it.

Let's not FUBAR Clemson traditions out of exitance. Hootie took away running down the Hill. The Ballos are gone. What next,; tell the fans on the hill they can not hand slap with the players coming down the Hill. Surely, that is a possible spread of contamination. Just think of our society as a combination of "Brave New World'" and " The Naked Sun". Oh, by the way, the first was required reading in 1969. Read them sometime and think about these two books combined. The second was written by Asimov.

Very possible. I could see exiting the stadium one row at a time vs. jumping over a wall and running like wild people.
