Difference in Beamer and Spurrier, Beamer doesn't quit his team when times are tough he stands and fights to the end. Beamer = total Class. Spurrier = egotistical, arrogant QUITTER!

Which is a better job? VT or SCar?

Nov 1, 2015, 1:53 PM

It seems the only thing SCar has going for themselves is their conference and they're about an hour from Charlotte.

good question...

Nov 1, 2015, 2:19 PM

SC has more money by far, better facilities, and more instate recruits by a little. SC's conference is more difficult and fans have high and unrealistic expectations. Good players in the program but no qb. Got to get ol and dl up to snuff to compete in SEC. Rival has it going on and that hurts. Competing for recruits with UT, UGA, UF, CU, FSU and others. Not much tradition. Need a small culture shift

VaTech has good facilities but not great. Harder to get some kids in academically. Other school in state UVA is in terrible shape. Great fans and tradition under Beamer. Got to recruit a lot, lot better and have got to solve the offensive side of the ball. They are terrible on offense. It will take 3 to 6 years to help them compete in their division. Not sure if fans are realistic. Probably need a small culture shift.

While I would say the USC-E job is a bit better

Nov 2, 2015, 12:25 PM

Due to the reasons you named. But in the very mediocre ACC Coastal, we should be competing by year 3, if not sooner. There actually is some solid talent on O (a couple of talented SOPH WRs, three very good RBs though two are out right now, and a very talented QB waiting his turn).

If we haven't won the Coastal at least once by year 4, I would be VERY disappointed.

After yesterday, anybody would be an improvement. As I understand, Danny Pearman is special teams coach as well as Tight Ends coach. Why not keep Pearman and seek and hire an assistant dedicated completely to special teams. Sounds too simple, I must be missing something.

That job closed as soon as it opened.

Nov 1, 2015, 3:21 PM

If Beamer is smart, he's letting Bud Foster start running the team. Even pressers.

I've been wrong two times, but this isn't one of them.

Doubt he would do that and disadvantage his son from getting a fair shot at the job.

Coot job will be about the 5th or 6th best opening by the end of the season.
