Tranny delimma

No, not THAT kind of tranny, you pervs.
Got a 2006 Acura TL, 205K mi worth about $4-5K. May need a new transmission at $3-4K.
Will prolly fix it, but looking at alternatives, maybe finding a deer to hit...
What would the lunge do?

Obed® would trade it in for a Bronco Sport
tigermanac® would get hammered and run it into a tree
Tharealdonjuan would use it to deliver tacos and burritos to framing crews on job sites
FBCoachSC® would take the tires off, cut them in half, spray paint them, and use them to line his new driveway
aerozeptallica would have sharkgirl use taxes to get anyone have any idea where in greenville my application should?
FordPrefect® would help you pretend you injured your neck while parking it and sue Acura for a new model

you can't do a products case with a sprained neck! It'd cost you 100,000 to win 10,000.
Be better off driving around darting in front of people and slamming on brakes. And then come see me but don't tell me that part.

I'd also verify whoever is quoting the rebuild that they can actually get parts before October.

Not worth the time and headache to sell it.

I've had two transmissions rebuilt in my lifetime. 1 was rebuilt twice. The other I traded when it started slipping again.
Won't do again.

The cheaper car is almost always the one you own though.
He knows the history of the car, and engine, so if he's good with that, it might last another 10 years.
But it being an Acura, the timer is just about up at 200K though.

Have you tried any products like lucas oil transmission fix or similar product first before replacing trans. Worth the try.A lot of your decision is based on financial position but we an old saying about throwing good money after bad.Or you considering rebuilt or new .I had one rebuilt for a Honda van and it only lasted a couple of years.I regret not paying a little more money for new one.Good luck on your decision!

Had a 2005 CL-S, same tranny problems.

First time, Acura replaced it free of charge, in Charlotte, because factory defect. About a $5K replacement (at dealer prices). Second time was several years later in Phoenix. Acura charged me something like $1,200 that time. If I had to pay the full amount, I'd have looked strongly at just dumping the car, especially on the second one.

I THINK it's the same issue, but can't remember if the new body style was 2004 or 2005, at which point they seemed to mostly fix that problem. Soooo....maybe not the same defect.
