Born in Philly. Educated in Europe. Guess this explains why Clemson admits so many out-of-state and out-of-country students :)

why should that matter,as long as the students are qualified?i've spent 7 years in SC and consider it my adopted home state.Came down from Connecticut to spend 4 yrs. at CU,3 years at Ft. Jackson,and many vacations on the Isle of Palms and Hilton Head,not to mention numerous trips to Greenville and Columbia to visit friends.Returned north because of family considerations,but I love SC by choice just as much as those who are residents by accident of birth do.

It doesn't matter to the vast majority of us. Only a few are butt hurt and need to blame out-of-state students or Foreigners because their kids didn't get into Clemson or something else in their life didn't work out how they expected.

You ain't wrong .
Being a Navy brat myself , born in Portsmouth Va , lived in Guantanamo Bay Cuba , Orlando Fla and Jacksonville Fla all before my 8th birthday .
Then my dad got stationed in Charleston and decided to call it a career .
I ONLY consider South Carolina my home , having been there since the 3rd grade on .

I always laugh when I hear people say that you're not a local of you weren't born there . Illogical bastads.

What is much worse than him being a northern is the fact that he was involved in starting up U of Maryland. At least,that's what i read some long time ago.

So what you're really trying to say here in his being from Philadelphia and having been educated in Europe that if Thomas Clemson were our contemporary he would fall into the socio-political category of " Radical-Liberal and Socialist " .
