This is a post no husband ever wants to have to write.

I posted last Wednesday that we went in for a biopsy on my wife's left breast, because yearly mammogram had shown an abnormal result. We got the results this morning, and, it is breast cancer. She is handling it about as well as could be expected, this is news NO woman or her spouse ever wants to receive.
Next step is surgery, along with biopsy of lymph nodes on that side, which will tell us how far advanced the cancer is. Our fervent prayer is that since she has been getting yearly mammograms, it is still localized to that tumor. The lymph nodes would be "next in line" to be infected, per what the docs explained.
A course of radiation treatments will follow a few weeks after surgery regardless. If the nodes are clean, that would be all that is required. If not, then we will have to discuss those options if we get there. Please keep my wife in your prayers that this thing is confined, and tests will show no advance to the lymph nodes. The Lord already knows, I would take this from her and put it on myself if I could, but that is not how it works. This is where we are, and we have to go forward from this point.

I am so sorry that you guys are having to walk this difficult path. It goes without saying that both of you will be lifted in prayer by so many of our buddies here. One thing that stands out to me is that y'all have a good attitude about this. As we all know, a positive attitude is a big portion of the battle. Prayers going up right now!

Our prayers are with you and your family. We have been through this, too. As a spouse I can offer only one small suggestion. Listen closely to what your wife is saying. Provide empathy and support in all ways. You won’t fell her pain from the surgery or how badly she feels after radiation treatments, but you can listen to her and do the things to make her comfortable. Be the rock she will need at home. Your faith will pull you both through.

I would suggest you praying about chemo first before surgery..it may localize it before having surgery. I pray that Jesus Christ will guide your decision.

Prayers sent. My mom went through this in her 70's and is still kicking in her late 90's. Her mom went through this in the 1920's as a young woman and lived another 60 plus years. Medicine is so much better these days. You both can and will beat this. Keep us posted

My wife had a very small cancer in one breast two years ago. She did not have to have chemo but did have surgery and a bunch of radiation. She is doing well and still takes some medication. We urge all women to have 3 D mammograms. This is how hers was found. God Bless.

Regret to learn of this. You, your wife and your family are in my prayers. Some of you may recall my daughter having discovered she had cancer in the area of her kidneys and bladder. She had radiation and then chemo treatments. She was scheduled to have the fourth chemo treatment but it was cancelled because a CAT scan showed no evidence of cancer. Her doctor gave her a high five and told her to go ring the bell. When your wife's treatments comes to an end, I pray she will hear the words, "Go ring the bell". Prayer is a might force.

I very well know your pain. My wife had breast cancer twice, two different types of cancer and in both breasts. We had a double mastectomy about 7 years ago. The first time required 6 chemo treatments and 35 radiation treatments. It scares you so bad when you first get the news but these women are tougher than you think. They instructed me on how to give her injections in her stomach the day after chemo treatments. On her initial plastic surgery, I was told to get something light on her stomach when we got home. I gave her some saltine crackers, thinking that’s pretty mild and light. She still to this day says I was trying to kill her. Her mouth was so dry from anesthesia she couldn’t swallow, almost chocked her to death. Then because of all the tubes coming out of her, she couldn’t have a sits bath. So I got in the shower with her to keep all the tubes free and up out of the way. Again, she claims I almost drowned her. Thank God, all has been well since those days. All I can say is, just be there when she needs you! God bless you both!

My wife took Chemo for two years & has lymphedema from damage from removal on her left arm & breast. She’s alive & well a true miracle. I pray that removal will be all that’s required for her in Jesus name, Amen

I am sorry to hear about this. I lift your wife up in our daily prayers and that the great physician intervenes. You don't walk alone in this journey and by all means make sure that you actively pursue removal and treatment of all malignant cells. Also, increase the alkalinity of her body. We've been down this road with loved ones and it's not easy but God will make a way.

survivors of this scourge, which is what I call any form of cancer. Always praying that doctors find the common denominator to cure all forms of it. As a retired engineer, I honestly believe there IS a common denominator, and it will eventually be found in a small, non government funded lab. (It is a sad commentary on humanity that the big labs have no monetary incentive to find it, they would be working themselves out of a job.
There was a quote attributed to a high up guy in the Oil Industry years ago, when asked about their progress to find replacements for fossil fuels.
"It is very hard for a man to find the solution to a problem, when his livelihood depends on him NOT finding it."

Stay strong for her. She needs you. You will get through this together and it’s no time to feel anything but hopeful. My mother had stage 3 in multiple lymph nodes at age 48 with 5 kids. She lived to 93! I too have been down cancers path with a very bad prognosis. 25 years later, I’m here to encourage you both! With God, all is possible! Tiger nation is praying for you.

I feel your pain brother. My ex wife got diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last June. Although she is my ex wife we are still very close and have 2 beautiful children together. She is only 44 and currently battling everyday just to live.

You are right about the waiting being terrible. My wife suffered this last week leading up to this appointment. And then, we immediately knew before a word was spoken that it was bad news, because not one, but two doctors came through the door into the exam room. There was no beating about the bush, they told us is was a ductal carcinoma and immediately started laying out the surgical options.

Praying for you and your wife during this time.
One side note: Does you wife drink/eat soy? If so: STOP! I've heard from several doctors that SOY is causing TONS of problems (ie. cancer) in women. MY wife's sister was diagnosed with Breast cancer and said it's a very common theme (Soy and Breast cancer) right now.
The doctor told her to never have another drop of it ever again.

Her nodes were clear - surgery was done - 30+ radiation treatments later and she got a clean bill of health.
I've already said prayers for your wife (and you) to have the same result.

As a full blown stage 4 cancer survivor, be very aggressive. Push your Dr's and if they are not as aggressive as you would like, then go interview other oncologists. Nobody will watch your health like yourself, dont wait on Dr. Make sure you go to a Cancer Institute for at least one consultation, do not rely on local oncology practice or family practice until you have heard suggestions from cancer institute that deals with same type of cancer daily. Dont go to oncologist that serves many types, get one that specializes.
Make sure your wife knows what her gene type is so they can influence the cancer specifically to genetic makeup. There are gene treatments for breast cancer that are very productive.
Bottomline, dont wait on Dr suggestions if they are not aggressive. The sooner you attack the disease the more likely you have success. I was given 6-12mos in 2012 and I still kicking along. I am not a female and it wasn't breast cancer, it was metastatic melanoma with 6 tumors in lungs and 1 in kidney. But a great female friend just beat breast cancer by using the same philosophy I am preaching to you now. She was give an expiration date also!
I know more about cancer than I ever wanted too but my knowledge has helped me survive.
The last bit of info and probably the best, dont get on the internet to research the disease. There are nothing but horror stories on there, lies that are made to scare you, and false facts trying to get you to drink herbal tea's, fly to crazy expensive service providers, scare tactics to get you to spend money on fake options. If you need anything info wise, only go to like American Cancer Institute or to quality universities that study the disease like MUSC, UNC, Duke, Northwestern, etc. Dont chase terrible stories that dont apply.
Many prayers my friend!
