So how did Stanford lose to Utah?

Nov 8, 2013, 11:00 AM

We're talking about a Utah team that lost to Arizona by double digits and who only scored 3 points against USC. Seems to me that, even though they beat Oregon, losing to a 4-4 team should count for about as much as getting blown out by the #2 team.

Correct, we were only undefeated and #7 in '89 @ Duke

It happens. No one can explain such things. WVU was number one a few years back (I think when LSU backed into the Championship as a 2 loss team) and lost to a mediocre Pitt team.

yeah, but the only reason Stanford is top 5 is because they

beat Oregon in the trenches. Stanford is always a little darling of the pundits and the computers, usually when they haven't done anything.

Utah rushed for more yards than Stanford and Stanford passed for more yards.

Stanford got behind and like traditional power offense teams they don't play catch up well.

So there are other teams that lose to lesser opponents? Wow, who would have thought that? Palmer makes it sound like we are the only team to have ever done it.

1. Palmering
Palmering (as in Jesse Palmer of ABC/ESPN and the Bachelor) - (verb) 1. The act of repeatedly disrespecting a team, coaching staff, and entire fan-base with blatantly biased statements over an event which happened "just two years ago"; 2. Simultaneously, inexcusably losing respect from peers, colleagues, and strangers alike. 3. Acting like a total douche-bag. 4. Over use of the word Clemsoning

Typical double talk

Nov 8, 2013, 11:11 AM

With the Bama LSU rematch year, the argument against OkSt was they had a loss to a bad team (I dont remember who that was) VS. Bama's loss against an undefeated team in LSU.

Fast-forward to now.... Oh, Stand just didnt play their game, but they are deserving... typical. There is no consistency.

Furthermore, there has never been one clear protocol for how the human vote should be considered. Some vote for who they think the best teams are right now, some vote on where they think teams will end up depending on their schedule, and it seems like others vote on where they wish teams were.

Some votes reflect their reader's choices.

They do it because they get paid to do it. Can you say hits-hoar?
