seeing an SEC thread on here sparks a question for me as an aggie, what would y'all Clemson folk think if Clemson could join the SEC? Would you make the move or no, and why or why not?
for us ags, it was a huge move to get out of a weakening conference and boosted us financially immensely, and really opened up the athletic landscape.
I'd love to know y'all's thoughts!

my two cents as a guy has followed Clemson since 1979 would be Why? If you consider all sports the ACC is a good conference, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer and so on. Clemson in particular has shown if you win the ACC in football you are considered for the playoffs so I am not sure what advantage, at this time, a move would make.

That's what I kinda figured. I think the SEC has an edge as a whole in football, ACC certainly has the edge in basketball, and they're very comparable in baseball. Clemson has no problem recruiting and competing on a national level where y'all are now. I think Clemson would certainly be the best football team on the East, but you must admit, an undefeated season and entry to the college football playoff would be far less likely when you have to beat Georgia AND Florida AND the west champion among a couple of others who pop up every here and there. Personally, I don't see any benefit for Clemson in joining the SEC. Y'all are doing just fine where you're at.

Personally, I don’t see the advantage for aTm to be in the SEC west for all the reasons you just mentioned.

I'm not so sure I agree. The SEC has been dominated by 1 team for a decade. You have a year or 2 they've gotten beaten, but over all BAMA has been the SEC. LSU used to be good...not lately, Auburn was good 1 year....but not lately. Ga.'s been good since Smart arrived but haven't won a natty since what, 1984? That's 35 years.
I think the SEC is a tad over-hyped because of BAMA. That doesn't mean they're not a good conference, it just means they've been over hyped. But i do agree with one thing, whenever Bama gets beaten in the National Title Game, they excuse is always "well, they had to play that grueling SEC schedule...so they're worn out." Missouri, Tennessee, Miss, Miss St., Kentucky...the Citadel....not exactly grueling.

why? Who needs the headaches(literally) of playing in the "Knucklehead league"? It's a bloodbath every week. we have a much more manageable situation. not easy(we usually play 2 SEC teams every year). That's enough and gives us the opportunity we need.

SEC not an option

It is my understanding that South Carolina could and would block Clemson from joining the SEC. I don't know if this is true, but it is certainly believable.
Fine by me.
SEC is stuck with UofSC.

If I had a vote and we got the invite.. I would hope we came. Just for the matchups we would get to see more often. If we were in the east, having UGA on the schedule every year is a natural fit then SCar wouldnt take away from of our OOC slots... so yeah I would hope we would take that invite should it ever come.

The move to the SEC would only have made sense prior to having a legitimate CFP. The SEC was considered to be the GOAT and ruled the college football universe in the eyes of the pundits. But now that we have the CFP, the SEC is being exposed for the fraud they have been for so many years. The SEC would probably NOT want CLEMSON to join, as was obvious when CLEMSON and FSU were excluded and TAMU and Mizzou were selected. We don't forget. We never forget.

For Clemson. The Tigers do not need to ride the coattails of other schools. They are at the TOP. Come Saturday you will see all you need to see! Orange in the end zone!
