Jan 8, 2015, 12:30 PM

Dumb? No.

I still believe he may end up the first trans gender NFL quarterback, we will have to wait and see.

Jan 8, 2015, 1:24 PM

respectable FSU education would suggest otherwise. For real, i know its far, but how do you turn that down, unless you don't want to have to work that hard.

Maybe because you want to play for a NC contender?

Jan 8, 2015, 1:36 PM

If I had the choice between playing QB for FSU or playing QB for Stanford, given Winston's talent (as opposed to somebody who was going to be a backup), I'd go to FSU, too.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So would I

Jan 8, 2015, 1:42 PM

When he goes in the first round, he'll be the 3rd fsu quarterback taken in the 1st round in the past 5 years. Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel were the other two. They may not be nfl starters, but that's still very impressive.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Going to FSU over Stanford shows genius

Jan 8, 2015, 1:56 PM [ in reply to Turning down a free Stanford education in favor of a ]

1) He probably knew that FSU would put up with his off-field behavior. Stanford may have booted him.

2) Maybe he knew he didn't want any part of Oregon en route to a National Championship.

:)

Please stop bringing up that Stanford accepted Winston.

Richard Sherman got into Stanford

Just saying.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sherman was salutatorian of his high school class. He

Jan 8, 2015, 2:15 PM

finished high school with a 4.2 GPA. He graduated from Stanford an honors student with a 3.9 GPA.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It was a 990 on the SAT out of 2400

Jan 8, 2015, 2:27 PM

Pathetic

http://www.debbieschlussel.com/69037/superbowl-richard-sherman-myths-no-hes-not-that-smart/

Dude is an idiot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it's out of 1600 and it was a 1060 the 2nd time he took it

Jan 8, 2015, 3:37 PM

not genius but not an idiot---- schools use the math/verbal combo-- some report the 3rd section separately, some not at all--

you may want to read the article you linked

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well the 25th %ile for Stanford is 1380 combined CR and math

Jan 8, 2015, 3:48 PM

https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-university-search/stanford-university

So he still isn't even close.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just for comparison, I made a 1000 on the SAT and my IQ's

Jan 8, 2015, 4:40 PM [ in reply to it's out of 1600 and it was a 1060 the 2nd time he took it ]

140. I"m not a genius, but I'm not a slouch, and there's actually not much correlation between IQ and SAT scores.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Interesting that you read that person's writing and find

Jan 8, 2015, 3:38 PM [ in reply to It was a 990 on the SAT out of 2400 ]

her to be a credible source.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

O.k. Just to point something out, getting a 1060

Jan 8, 2015, 4:38 PM [ in reply to It was a 990 on the SAT out of 2400 ]

on the SAT, which he apparently did on the second test, supposedly translates to the 80th percentile, IQ-wise. Well, no, 80th percentile is not genius level, but it darned well isn't "average" either.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's nowhere close to Stanford level either

Jan 8, 2015, 4:43 PM

Let's not pretend he would have gotten in as a student.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you called it pathetic and him an idiot...you just might

Jan 9, 2015, 11:09 AM

want to think before you throw that out there next time-- now you're saying he wouldn't have gotten in as a regular student...there's quite a gap between idiot and that --- that was all I'm saying

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I highly doubt 1060 is 80th percentile.

Jan 9, 2015, 12:19 PM [ in reply to O.k. Just to point something out, getting a 1060 ]

I would guess that is around 60th percentile.

Re: Cowherd said Winston was accepted by Stanford for enrollment

Jan 8, 2015, 2:05 PM

are you sure he didn't say Samford?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Does this somehow make Winston intelligent by association?

Jan 8, 2015, 2:08 PM

Like all schools, Stanford sdmits its share of "marginal" students for the sake of athletics.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Just a little factual information to consider before drawing

Jan 8, 2015, 2:21 PM

a conclusion. Do you have any info that would lead someone to believe that Winston was a "marginal" high school or college student?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't know anything about his academic status....

Jan 8, 2015, 3:06 PM

yet it's still abundantly clear, at least to me, the guy is an idiot.

A solid score on his SAT or ACT isn't likely to change my assessment.

I may not like his style, but I see no indication that he is

an idiot. Quite the opposite.

Re: Cowherd said Winston was accepted by Stanford for enrollment

Jan 8, 2015, 2:37 PM

I gotta say! By reading some of these posts and responses. It's no wonder why a lot of minority students/fans may not feel welcome. "Some" of you guys are brutal and very prejudicial with your analogies. Winston maybe a jerk, but everything I've read and researched has said he is very smart. Same goes with Richard Sherman...

I really really really really hope that our players never read these boards.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Really smart kids

Jan 8, 2015, 3:05 PM

when I was in college about 10 years ago, I did that stupid crap all the time with my buddies. I got silly and drunk and acted a pure fool (but nothing illegal). I'm just sayin we all were 18-22 before and I thank GOD almighty that I didn't have a camera on me at that age because I would have never been admitted to graduate school.

I used to be very critical of these young kids but then I had to remember that I'm lookin at them thru the lens of a 32yo which is very hypocritical.
