Oregon St vs Cincinnati not sure I’ve seen a

Team intentionally give a team a run. Bases loaded, cincy up by three and Oregon st big gun coming to the plate and they give him a free pass... didn’t even try to pitch around him.

So that made it a two run game and kept the bases loaded w no outs. Oregon st went on to score three more to take a one run lead.

Can you imagine if Monte had pulled that stunt? Wow. And it’s not like he’s a big home run threat... just a good hitter.

I remember it in MLB, college hitters shouldn't be that feared though.

With 0 outs though it makes no sense.

Yep. Quite the upset and glad cincy pulled it out or that coach would have been railed. I had already forgotten that Oregon State was the defending champion.

Traditional baseball logic says to never put the tying run

in scoring position and that's what they did. If the batter had homered they would have gotten 4 runs and that's what they ended up with anyway so Cincy didn't gain a thing by walking him. Pitch to him and maybe he lines into a double play - or even triple play and they get no runs.

If I read correctly there were still no outs so it's not like they were just looking for the weakest guy to go after and get the last out.
