Not that I would choose to learn anything from Arkansas, but re: onside kicks

Dec 4, 2019, 5:15 PM

They recently decided to kick over the receiving team and sent their fast guy straight through the line and recovered. I was surprised I haven’t seen this before. It crosses 10 yards so it should be legal. I suppose it may be difficult to kick it over the line while keeping inbounds and out of the end zone but why isn’t this done more often?

I remember one we ran under Bowden. Popped it up

behind the first line and McKelvey ran to it and caught it out of the air. Don't know if it would work against teams expecting an onside kick though. They can fair catch it, if they have anyone in that zone.

the main reason is because if the receiving is ready

They can just call a fair catch and you can’t interfere. That’s why kickers bounce onside kicks

Dabo called an onside kick like a few years ago and our guy caught it 15 yards downfield in the air. Refs flagged us for interference and said our guy couldn't touch the ball first until it either touched a player on the other team or touched the ground.

Yes you’re referring to the 2014 coot game. And if I’m understanding right y’all are talking about an onside kick similar to what Saban did to us in the 2015 natty? Anyways GO TIGERS!!!
