Coots’ short list for next HC

Taggart Helton Pruitt Lovie
Personally I think Helton is a perfect fit. Big name, big name school experience, and was almost successful at a place with access to better talent.

... no, this list will not do.
They need a legacy like Spurrier or Holtz so they can ruin another’s name.

How about the Kansas coach? Isn't he pushing 70? Or is 70 pushing him?

It will be a few years from now with that buyout. It will probably be someone like Hward Schnellenberger when the time comes. He likes building programs from scratch like he did witj FAU.

Not sure they can afford Muschamp's large buyout...

which means they may be stuck with him for another year or two.
Maybe Darla Moore will write a check.

I started to say that I hoped that you were right but you hit a time when a coach is costing more in sales and donations than they would be saving with the buyout. Then I looked to see what it was. At $18.6 million and $22 million if he is fired before the end of the year, I am pretty sure that you are right. God bless Ray Tanner.

From what I read, Darla Moore is ticked off about the Uof5C president selection, so her checkbook is probably closed for a while. She can afford to let them all suffer with their coach and president decisions while she can travel the world and pay no attention during football season.

Hey Bill. Substitute an "e" for the "a" and you would have the perfect answer.

I think 8992Tiger should be on that list. Why? Continuity. 1. As an engineer with no experience coaching or playing, I can carry on their tradition of losing games. 2. I would solemnly promise to continue their losing streak to Clemson. 3. I would gladly accept members of the Clemson scouting team if they want to start for the chickens. They have already been vetted by Dabo and Co. as great kids. 4. I would continue the tradition of changing uniforms. Maybe a rubber chicken on the helmets. Or maybe changing UofSC to USCJr. 5. I would continue their tradition of hating their coaches. They would hate me. 6. I would do it for 25% of Muschy's salary.
Dream job. Where do I submit my application?

I’d like to see Todd Ellis get into coaching & be the next. He truly has a vision for the program, I mean a delusion “Tigers are cycling out”...??????

Shawn Elliott

Elliott will be their next hire as someone already suggested. He coached there with Spurrier and was key to their little chicken run. He is getting a bunch of connections around greater Atlanta currently.
Taggert to the poster that said they would take Muscoot over Taggert is considered a good hire b/c he isn't afraid of taking over dumpster fires. Like the one Jimbo Fisher left at FSU. He has been there all of 1 year and is being hailed a failure. Wow! It's not like it wasn't a dumpster fire when he got there. Much like what he would take over at U of Sux. But, he won't be the choice anyway.
Elliott will be the guy and will (unlike Taggert at FSU) given a couple seasons to turn the program around and start contending. Or at least showing progress or beating the teams they "should beat" per the fan base.

Genuinely, I expect them to try for...

Whenever they part ways with Muschamp I genuinely expect them to go after Lane Kiffin. He’s spent long enough in coaching obscurity that they forgot about what he did at Tennessee.

Kiffin would be a short time hire, He would call one day to say "I accept" and then call two days later to say, "scratch my name off the list".
UofSC is the graveyard of coaches. Name one former Gamecock coach who was offered a job that was considered a better job? (Coming to Clemson is an automatic improvement so I do not include Scott's coming to Clemson as an assistant coach in my question)

I'd donate to the Gamecock Club if they'd hire Paul Johnson. That's at least 5 years of comedy gold for us.

Who would go there? It's not a Destination job. It's not a stepping stone. It's a career ender.
