Analytics baseball team

Jun 6, 2017, 4:21 PM

OF=+1
Reid Rohlman upped his average from .274 to .361 but his rbi fell from 43 to 34

CF=-.5
Pender average up slightly from .294 vs .305 rbi dropped from 43 to 34 hr drop from 11 to 7

OF=-.5
Beer average dropped 70 pts rbi dropped 70 to 53. still a great player

SS= +.5
Davidson average .286 vs White .272. rbi 41 vs 30 white...sb better white 24 vs 12 davison. great year for frosh

3b= +1
Byrd averge .284 vs Greene last year .235 20 rbi vs 7 for Greene. Big year for Byrd.

1B= +1.5
Cox upped average for .224 to .280 rbi's up from last year 35 vs 16...most improved award

2b= -1.5
Greene hit .263 vs Wilson .279...Greene with 18 rbi, 0 hr vs. Wilson with 45, and 7 hrs

DH= +.5
Williams improved average from .245 to .261 and improved rbi's from 38 to 51...injury hurt team.

C= -2.5
Losing Okey hurt a lot. He had 74 rbi and 15 dingers...

OF= +.5
Weston Jackson had excellent year with 31 rbi and 5 hrs...KJ Bryant 8 rbi and 2 hrs.

Basically the difference between last year and this year is a wash for the position players. The pitching staff made improvements over last year.
3.59 era vs 4.43 for last year..

..Barnes was most improved era with 3.2 vs 4.66, Eubanks was the same 4.09 vs 4.09, Krall went up from 1.67 yo 3.5 but still our stud. Other pitcheers made gains with Gilliam and Crawford leading.

Overall team did well in regional but faltered in ACC tourny this year. Last year we were 44/20 and this year we were 42/21....What is better an ACC championship or a regional runner-up...??

I am proud of our team. The key remains PITCHING POWER....Good pitching will shut down good hitting.

To compare rbi's from home runs in each year

For instance ... the total hr's last season and the RBI that were produced by them vs. the same stat for this season.

I would bet that a high percentage of the runs scored this year came as a result of homers.

Is that data available?

Coaching

I have to give Monte Lee an A- this year. We will not find a better coach or man. The players love this guy and we have nothing but good things ahead....Recruit Pitching is the key.

Catcher wasn't as bad of a drop off

Williams had 51 RBI and 14 HR while missing significant time. The injury really killed us though, Wilkie did seem to turn it around in the last 2 games.
