Like Philpot just said, rather we have night or noon

have nothing to do with the Clemson AD or Conference. It's all about ESPN, they're the one paying billions to conferences. They make the times on who they want. So you want to blame someone, point the finger at ESPN

Also this is the first time ever, Clemson and Duke play at night

EsecPN has an agenda against Clemson.

Oct 22, 2012, 1:45 PM

True. They would like USuC to be the big team in the state of South Carolina. We are a fly in their ointment.

i don't think that is 100% accurate. i believe the networks

require time slots to be filled; the conference then fills the slots.

the networks, i believe, do hold the final say or can have a game moved as they see fit.

I think you're right.

It's not coincidence that we will have played 8 away night games (not counting neutral sites) and maybe 0 home night games from 2011-2012.

For conference games, I get it...

It's luck of the draw and, in the end, I think it evens out through the years.

However, our AD needs to fight for a clause for out-of-conference matchups that stipulates an advantageous kick-off when we're forced to go on the road and play at night. To me, it's entirely unfair that we played Georgia and Auburn at Noon when we got them at home and in primetime when we went on the road. All you need to do is get ESPN/ABC's commitment every time you schedule a series.

So, in other words, if we open a series at home (as we do with Georgia next year), and it's a Nooner, ESPN should have to be locked in to a Noon telecast the next year when we're on the road.

Also depends on win losses of both

If VT has good record that game is at night

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Clemson has a lot more input than you give them

Oct 22, 2012, 1:58 PM

credit for. If both teams have great records it's probably out of Clemson's hands and a night game it is. But I think Clemson prefers day games and that is factored into the decisions that are made by the ACC/ESPN.

whadda you bet when we play UGa...

we'll get a noon home game and they'll have a night game between the hedges?

I want someone to ask the Clemson admin two questions...

Oct 22, 2012, 1:55 PM

1. Does Clemson have a preference for certain kickoff times. We all know the answer to this is yes, they prefer earlier game times.

2. Does the ACC and/or TV Network take that preference into account when scheduling games? I've been told each school submits their preference for game times and the TV Network uses that preference as ONE of the many factors in scheduling.

that is true

Re: Like Philpot just said, rather we have night or noon

Oct 22, 2012, 1:58 PM

that is actually not true though..

at least not completely. Our BOD and Pres along with the A.D. do have some say and can strongly suggest. Why do you think certain teams always have night games and others dont? Chickens have just been decent recently and yet have always played night games.. LSU always has night games..

We have ASKED for noon games.. all that might be getting ready to change though pretty soon from what I have heard.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

BS, I have heard it from an IPTAY exec, it cost less for noo

Oct 22, 2012, 2:28 PM

n kickoffs, ESPN is not the end all on game times
