everything during these Super Bowl halftime shows is "lip-synched".....not one instrument is played live, not one note is sung live.....at least thats what I've read recently and heard discussed on the radio.
I remember far enough back (60;s) when Jefferson Airplane (the original folks) appeared on "American Bandstand" and a couple of the guitarists had their instruments turned backwards and were "strumming" them although no strings were being touched..of course, recreational drug use may have made them think they were actually playing!!
Its OK to enjoy the spectacle...and appreciate it for what it is.....lotsa people think pro wrestling is a real sport too

and admitted they lip-synched. It's no big deal, I think, if they admit to lip-snyching. It's when they try to pull it off as genuine that I think is crap.

out on the most appropriate halftime artist ever for a football game....
AC/DC
How many of their songs are standards at sports events and are universally known?
Hell's Bells Back in Black You Shook Me All night Long Thunderstruck For those About to Rock, We Salute You
that would be the complete show right there....and it would freaking rock.

would appeal to all fans, I think. Their songs are not dirty (at least not foul-mouthed, while their lyrics are full of double-meanings, i.e. Giving the Dog A Bone, Night of the Long Knives, etc.). But still, AC/DC would be fan appropriate. I've seen them three times live and every time was outstanding.

Not so much...Did she look good ? Absolutely...Hot - check...Good performer - check...A true musician - negative....
Most musicians these days are form over function. They rarely, if ever, write their own lyrics...
But she is hot! Ask dsp

It's basically impossible to sound engineer a truly live performance on that scale and broadcast it worldwide without massive sound sync and distance effect problems. There would be echos and speed of light vs speed of sound issues out the wazoo. You can tell when a band is really singing live on TV because they always sound terrible without any post production. See SNL (and even they lip sync most of the time now).
