Has college simply become a farm system for Democrats ?

Feb 13, 2018, 8:52 AM

Just attending sporting events does not reveal what's happening at any given University Monday-Friday.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well it is a place one goes to be educated

Re: Has college simply become a farm system for Democrats ?

Feb 13, 2018, 9:05 AM

After the Reagan victory in 1980, liberal/socialist/Marxists ( under the democrat umbrella) knew that their only hope of permanent control was to "reprogram" the next generation, and they set about doing this through the school system and especially the collegiate level. Just look at Missouri as a perfect example of the effects of political correctness taken to its natural progression.

Depends on what you major in.

Feb 13, 2018, 9:17 AM

There are a few conservative professors at Clemson. Is Dr. Woodard still teaching?

There's something in these hills.

Liberal professors outnumber conservative professors...

Feb 13, 2018, 9:19 AM

about 12 to 1 if not higher (especially in the northeast) and with that shift ideological diversity went right out the door as conservative ideas were presented as outside the window of being politically acceptable.

Why... because most of the libs like to hide in the classroom since they simply can't hack it in the real world.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

"they simply can't hack it in the real world"

Feb 13, 2018, 9:29 AM

First, I'm not a liberal but I take issue with that statement. Many of the profs I had at Clemson were career changers. They had worked in the real world and took their expertise to the classroom.

Isn’t that the same thinking as a democrat

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You use the word 'think' a lot in a negative connotation

Feb 13, 2018, 9:59 AM

Why is that?

Example: My son stopped thinking and woke up.

Feb 13, 2018, 12:56 PM

I think you are making my point for me...Overall, I reject what I see as a celebration of anti-intellectualism among many conservatives today. It didn't used to be that way, but more and more I see ideologues and religious zealots at the wheel of the Republican Party and ANYONE with half a brain (myself included) should be running the other way.

...would have met a number of 'conservative' professors. Now they were 'conservative' in that they had a strong view of the Constitution. However they kept personal beliefs out of their teaching. All good people.

Opposite view is if you take a Sociology class. You will only be exposed to 'liberal' professors. Also good people.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You do realize how these stats were derived ??

Feb 13, 2018, 10:40 AM

Fed Money vs States Tax revenue ... High tax, liberal states are diluted because of how much taxation they take in.

The old adage, you can use statistics to prove anything.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You still proved the point

Feb 13, 2018, 11:01 AM

Those red states are accepting more handouts from the Federal Government. High tax 'liberal' states find a way to take care of their own.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Math is hard ...

Feb 13, 2018, 12:52 PM

Conservative state: 1 mill Fed Aid / 10 mill State Taxes = 10%
Liberal state: 1 mill Fed Aid / 50 mill State Taxes = 2%

Same federal aid, but the conservative state gets colored darker in your little chart because it taxes less.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

With red states like Miss, Bama, SC with the lowest education rankings

The right controls the Congress and the Presidency, what do you want? You're like a rich guy eating a fine dinner then complaining because the scraps are eaten by the hired help. Re: Take me back to the ‘60s, when universities were bastions

Feb 13, 2018, 10:58 AM [ in reply to Take me back to the ‘60s, when universities were bastions ]

Age is relative. Wanting to help your fellow man when able should certainly be something that should be instilled before college. Being open minded is a sign of intelligence. i guess global warming is "fake news" and the liberal media is destroying our country. I am so sick of hearing that bs! Read something besides Republican magazines and business tycoon autobiographies. We are at a crossroads in our country, not to sound dramatic, but will we draw inward and become isolationist or embrace diversity and what is now a global economy? And it is a global economy now, like it or not. HOW BOUT OUR FRONT FOUR ALL COMING BACK!! geez , now i am depressed. Go Tigers!

There must be like 1 or 2.

Republicans do a wonderful job of using emotions to convince poor and middle class republicans to support things not in their own self interest. The type of thinking you are espousing is a perfect example.
