Does Cain take Peake's job next year?

Unless Peake just has a crazy spring and fall, I can't see him holding on to his job for too long with a guy like Cain behind him. Kinda like Sammy and Scott, you just can't keep those special guys off the field.

NO. Unless he gets hurt. He knows the play book better. I just don't see it.

Peake has barely played himself. Hasn't put up a 200+ yard year since he's been here.

I think another guy that I and many others are forgetting is Trevion Thompson. You know you're loaded when you can forget a guy like him. We are super stacked. I wonder if there will be some transfers and possibly some recruits willing to take a grey shirt to get one or two more elite level guys in here.

Highly recruited but I don't think he's really shown any flashes of greatness in the limited amount of time he's been on the field these 4 years. I think the "special" guys, you see it right away ( ie. Sammy, Nuk, Scott, Williams, etc. ). I think Peake compares more to Germone Hopper. A guy that many had high expectations for but hasn't lived up to them.

experience, and then injury. His first 2 years he played behind Nuk and Sammy. 2013 he missed almost the entire year due to injury. Coaches were pretty tight-lipped about it, but it was obvious that Peake had either re-injured his knee in 2014 or at least tweaked it to the point that he was no where close to 100% the entire year. He did get lost in the shuffle as a true freshman, but after that I think he's been very impressive in the few times he's been 100% AND had the opportunity.

No way. Peake was not right all year. He'll finally be healthy. He will be the best WR on the team.
Cain will not redshirt. He will get playing time

Welllllllll, best WR on the team is a little overboard. Williams and Scott are absolute players, I put Peake behind them. Cain and McCloud bring certain dimensions. Im at a loss just how good Thompson is or could be.

I think you forget, Peake was higher ranked than Sammy and Martavis. He's faster than both Wiilliams and Scott. He has great body control and excellent hands. He's been hurt for 2 years. Finally healthy, final year, he's going to have a monster year.

No, I havent forgotten where he was ranked out of high school. I also know two years of being injured doesnt make him all of a sudden healthy enough to have a monster year. Do I WANT him to succeed? Of course, I just dont think he is better than Williams or Scott at this point.

You're probably right, but I'd take Peake at 100% health over everybody. His upside is huge.
Regardless, we're so deep at WR, we don't even bat an eye after losing three 4* players.

I agree. If Peake is 100% healthy and stays healthy for the entire season, then there is no receiver on campus or coming in that is "more " talented than Peake.
Just because Scott and Williams have been healthy doesn't mean they are better. Production doesn't mean anything when health has been an issue. Peake is this seasons Tony Steward. Finally healthy for his final year and he will show out if he remains that way.

Williams, and Scott enter with the coaches confidence. One was 1000 yarder and Scott was close. I think Peake will have a good year but there are only so many stats to go around. It also depends what recruiting service you use. Sammy was higher on rivals. I think you see Williams and Scott eclipse 1000 yards again and Peake is in the 500 range with maybe Ghop or Thompson. Not going to make any predictions on freshmen yet. Cain and McCloud will play but aren't gettin here til summer.

I'm thinking Thompson could be another Mike Williams. They're similar in height and length, neither of one them are burners but they have good speed and they're great possession receivers. To top it all off, Thompson seems like he's a little more "put together" than Mike.

Yea, Thompson absolutely flew under the radar for me. Just went through his senior highlights and refreshed my memory. You described him well...he's not a burner but he's fast. He's not particular quick, but he's kind of like a locomotive with all that muscle. Once he gets going in a straight line, there aren't many DBs who are going to pull him down in a foot race.
Our WR corps is just...it's just great. We couldn't have asked for a better group to have here with Deshaun. It's such a diverse group too. If you can think of a type of receiver, we've got him and he's very high quality. When it comes to the receiving corps, I don't think we have a weakness.
Now we just need the offensive line to work their butts off in the offseason so Deshaun can go do, that voodoo, that you do...so well!

Peake is immensely talented, and in my opinion will be starting if he's healthy. The problem is we haven't had a single full season of Peake in good health, with the exception of when he was behind Nuk & Sammy.
I'm as bullish as anyone on Cain, but want to see him play first. It's a long way until the fall.

Cain will not take a senior position. Just like Deshaun supposedly didn't beat out Cole coming into last season. Dabo is a politcal traditional coach who believes in seniority over talent, Cain will get a lot a playing time early, Ray ray too. However, I do see Cain and Ray coming along later in the season to take some spots but not at the beginning of the season.

Yea, I think Cole may have been a special situation.
1. Coaches are usually very close with their quarterbacks and therefore the bond between Cole & Dabo/other coaches may have been deeper than it may be with some of the other players.
2. Quarterback is the most cerebral position on the field. While there was never a doubt in his physical ability, the coaches most likely were nervous about throwing Deshaun into the deep end right away to see if he could swim. It became evident pretty quickly that it wouldn't be a problem and I think the coaches held off for too long, but I think that played into their motivation. Conversely, a WR or RB can play without the weight of the world on their shoulders. They're able to rely on their physical ability and make an impact a lot quicker.

I'm pretty sure it's more then just that one time. Sammy was an 1 of a kind type player to come through, he started from day 1. If Cain and Ray come in and make a name on the first couple days like Sammy did then they'll start. If not, their gonna have to work for it.

Well...the Wayne Gallman thing may not be the best comparison. Howard was playing an awful lot for much of the season when many people thought Gallman was the better talent.
Sammy was also coming in to a dumpster fire in the receiving corps. Outside of Nuk there wasn't much there.
However Artavis got a ton of action early on, even over the veteran Humphries, so I'm not sure Dabo's going to prevent a great player from playing based on seniority.

Hold up, wait a minute...he will be a great sophomore year guy but he's not quite Sammy-esce. I can see him putting up a solid 600-700 yds. this year though. It will take him time to grasp the play book and get reps with all of the talent ahead of him (Sammy didn't have that issue with talent ahead of him and was thrown in the fire and fared well). I see the rotation more like:
Boundary - 1)Williams 2)Thompson Field - 1)Peake 2)Cain Slot - 1)Scott 2)McCloud
Keep in mind I could see Cain moving to slot later in the year after grasping the playbook, but he is a great route runner in the open field as well. Also, for you Peake bashers...remember in 2011 when video surfaced of Watkins, Peake, Bryant, Hopkins and a speedster named Bellamy racing? Peake beat them all, and it's evident how elite he can be at 6'3 when healthy. Here's to Peake's breakout campaign! Go Tigers!

I'm with you on hoping for Peake to break out. However I disagree with your assessment on Cain. I think he does have the same level of physical talent as Sammy...though he's a different kind of player. I truly believe we're going to be getting the next coming of Amari Cooper (who I think is as talented as Sammy too) in Deon Cain. He's that talented.
Maybe you're right on him maybe not making an immediate splash in the first few games his freshman year, but I think we'll be seeing a lot of him eventually.

Let us consider that Cain is new to the WR position and may take a couple of days to grasp the playbook as well as blocking schemes. Uber talented, he is going to be a star at Clemson.

I agree, but I think the key is Sammy coming in and the only other talented WR on the roster being Nuk and J.Brown. Cain is coming in to compete with Williams, Peake, Scott, Hopper, Thompson, McCloud and Bell. That's a lot of talent to compete with, as well as get snaps in practice with. We have talent that knows the playbook in and out, and that's hard to compete with. It also helped Watkins that Morris came in as well. He planned his offense around Watkins...that was his most explosive player. Look for Cain and McCloud to make a splash, but to get better throughout the year as they grasp the playbook and get reps
