No... All orange is for championships only

Sep 28, 2016, 11:08 AM

False. They're for big games, which usually are championships, but not always.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

championships only

Sep 28, 2016, 11:45 AM

state championship
conference championship
CFP

I guess a game against FSU could also be considered a division championship most years

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well . . .

Sep 28, 2016, 12:07 PM

by that standard, would not L'Ville be considered a "de facto" division championship this year?

Traditionally, orange pants have been for big games, not just championships. Did Dabo make some internal pronouncement limiting them to championships?

I mean, we wore them against WVU in the orange bowl , that wasn't an ACC or Nat'l championship.

Personally, I think Dabo's a little to formulaic and stingy with uniform combos. I like the fact that all white is the default road uniform and that we don't wear the orange pants too profligately, like we did under Bowden. But I still think an occasional change for the sake of variety would be nice. Purple pants on the road once in a while. Purple jerseys and white pants once in a while, - not restricting the purple simply to military appreciation day.

Agreed

We wore them seems like all the time seems like under Bowden. Even if it was nc state or Boston College.

Let's do what feels right. All orange baby

When we wore them for WV, it was for the orange bowl championship. Same in 2014 when we wore them for the Russel athletic bowl championship. Dabo has said the orange pants are our "championship pants".

People don't pay attention to Dabo

Sep 28, 2016, 12:47 PM [ in reply to Re: Do you think the team wears all orange on Saturday? ]

For the past 3-5 years it has been written about that Dabo's uniform standards are pretty clear. Orange on white at home. All white on road. Orange pants when playing for a division, state, conference or other championship.

Purple for Military appreciation day.

That standard comes from the philosophy that every week is the opponent is nameless and faceless, and doing other things just to motivate or place emphasis on a particular opponent sends the wrong message.

Im confident in saying the orange pants are included for championship games only because we've had a historical tradition with them. Otherwise Dabo wouldn't use them.

You could argue that this is for the Atlantic Division Championship

It won't matter, but it would suit me. I think we win, no matter what colors we wear.

Yes no doubt, why not ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree we should, but

Sep 28, 2016, 12:12 PM

Dabo doesn't always pull out the the orange pants even for obviously big games. Remember the FSU game in 2013 (51-14) . . . now that turned out horrible - but that was a huge matchup going in. That was an occasion for orange pants if there ever was one. But they didn't pull them out. UGA that same year - to open the season - that would have been plausible, but no. In fact, Clemson didn't wear all orange uniforms at all in 2012. They wore all orange against WVU in 2011 and not again until Ohio State in 2013.

Why not? Its unique and a team color. Besides, how bad would the birds feel if they lost to a team in purple?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Hope we NEVER see that again!***

Sep 28, 2016, 12:37 PM

Because it's hideous. I love orange, and I like purple, but not together like that. Thank God Dabo doesn't let them wear that anymore. Same with white jerseys with purple pants.
