The Puntrooskie?
I was there you could have heard a pin drop in the stadium it got so quiet. Bowden later said he could've run that play or punted and let Clemson beat them in a field goal. He had no other choice but to gamble.

Crushing. Imagine if we'd won that game.

I was there, and saw it developing, to no avail. Kinard was great to chase him down, but they kicked the FG, and broke my heart. I remember FSU offensive linemen holding on every pass play, and they almost pulled our DE's jersey off, right in front of the official. No call, of course. The FSU linemen were crying on the sideline, they were so beaten up. We should've won that one. Still, it was a great game and a great play.

I think it was Donnel Woolford, Kinard was well into his NFL career but you are right that FSU held a lot when they were good and always got the calls.

Sitting in upper deck and saw the FSU guy run out of the scrum headed for the end zone. Took a few seconds for the reality to sink in...

I was on the hill, and was fooled by the punter.

12 years old at the time, and had a somewhat obstructed view with all the students around us.
I thought they snapped it over his head, and I was going crazy...until I heard a weird silence and nothing but the FSU section cheering.
Will never forget that game.

have had an interception. The ball slipped out of Chip Ferguson's hand as he was throwing and went just past the line of scrimmage where one of our linebackers was standing. Between the wet field and slippery ball he wasn't able to hang onto the interception. The Puntrooskie should have never happened.

to throw up.
To this day, still one of the best conceived and executed trick plays of all time. Have to sadly give credit where it is due. Dammitalltohell.
(Glad to see others didn't let your high maffs error slide.)

happen from the endzone before anyone else but were helpless to do anything about it.
You might could have heard a pin drop afterward, but it was the LOUDEST I've ever heard it just before when we had stopped them and "forced a punt."

Wife and I were there. Just that week there was an article in SI about Bobby Bowden’s trick plays and how he’d do anything not to lose. We were all standing, I was shouting “watch the fake!” Guy next to me said, no, he’ll punt. Told him if they punt, they lose and Bobby ain’t giving up that easy. Looked like a genius as Seminole sprinted down the field. Ohhhh that one hurt.
