California Colleges - 100% on-line this Fall

May 13, 2020, 6:44 AM

I read this morning where atleast 23 major colleges in California will be on-line only this fall. Sounds like NCAA won't allow sports unless all students are back on campus. This poses a good question. No major sport has announced fans back at games yet? No one wants to tackle that liability right now. What does that look like when they do....50% capacity, 65% capacity?

I am preparing myself for limited opportunities to watch a Clemson home game this fall at best. No way Clemson can accommodate all of their season ticket holders to attend a home football game this fall unless the CDC Guidelines are loosened. It will be a very interesting next 45-60 days but I am not positive we will all be able to watch a home game in September. Think about it in another light, what university wants an influx of visitors (60,000) coming on campus right now anyway, it becomes a huge liability for the University and students!

It sucks yes, but this is reality at the moment. Go Tigers!

Doesn't sound like students will be getting much of an education. Not surprising to see the snowflakes overreacting.

The Governor could probably confine citizens to their homes indefinitely and 60% of their population would obey without batting an eye.

We'll see if the NCAA survives this. Between NIL and now student athletes going to classes on line not being able to particpate in sports here it comes. IMO the odds that the NCAA as we know it will be a thing of the past by the end of 2021.

An analogy I heard was the the NCAA is described as a town with nothing but a mayor and police department, no other infrastructure and no direction. They can't survive the new world order. Whether we like it or not, nothing will be the same.

Yes, NCAA has no backbone so who knows about their recommendations....

Either way, money drives decisions. Football is big revenue for many programs or conferences so will be an interesting debate on what happens. I know season ticket sales have to happen but I am sure we are on a roller coster ride with the final outcome with games, policies, etc.

Either way, you will see BIG CHANGES moving forward. A less interactive Tiger walk, no people going on the field anymore after the game, etc. No fan (Kid) interactions with players, coaches, etc.

I hadn't thought about the Tiger Students and Fans not being allowed on the field after a game. What a shame that would be for such a storied tradition. Dayum, what's next?

That should be the least of your worries. You best be worried about there being any games under any conditions. Sure hope I am wrong.
