Denying that it is happening is a bizarre take, and definitely not the most tactful. It's just not possible to pretend that CO2 in ice cores and innumerable other recordable observations aren't real.
A far more insightful and wiser approach would be saying "ok... but does it matter, and what can we do about it?" Because in reality, there ain't jack crap we can do to change the climate or prevent it from fluctuating. It's the Earth for crying out loud.
It's just so on-brand for the modern republican party to choose the most anti-intellectual arguments for every position though.

That is true, but I don’t think comparing gender identity and climate science is really all that fair of a criticism.
There’s no scientific consensus about what exactly gender is or how gender identity is formed, and I doubt there ever will be as it’s a complicated question involving the whole nature vs nurture debate.
However, there is scientific consensus in regards to climate change, at least that human activity is contributing to increases in carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases in the atmosphere.

Any self-respecting biologist could tell you that there is

A difference between biological sex and gender. I understand that it can be a confusing topic when first encountered so I will do my best to explain here.
Sex is assigned at birth, refers to one’s biological status as either male or female, and is associated primarily with physical attributes such as chromosomes, hormone prevalence, and external and internal anatomy.
Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for boys and men or girls and women. These influence the ways that people act, interact, and feel about themselves.
For example, while aspects of biological sex are similar across different cultures, aspects of gender may differ.
As such, there is no single explanation for why some people are transgender. Many experts believe that biological factors such as genetic influences and prenatal hormone levels, early experiences, and experiences later in adolescence or adulthood may all contribute to the development of transgender identities.

And it doesn't even matter how you define sex, it's complicated. You want your definition to be chromosomes? There are XXY and single X. You want your definition to be sex organs? There are people with both, there are xx individuals with ovaries, there are xy individuals with gonads. Want to use brain chemistry? That #### is all over the place, lots of people who fall outside normal ranges.

I posed this question before.
If socially constructed roles, behaviors, and activities, are factors in determining how one views their gender, would they also determine how one views their "actual" age? If a person is 40 but feels in their heart and lives as though they are 66 and 10 months, (retirement age for full social security) would you recognize their rights to the entitlement? If not, please explain why gender identity differs from age-identity.

What it comes down to is the definitions of these characteristics. Categories such as age or weight are able to be empirically defined (most of us can count, I hope), while characteristics such as gender identity are not able to be empirically defined because, well, you can’t attach a number to how male or female or neither male or female you are. Gender is subjective not objective.
So no, I wouldn’t support someone collecting retirement benefits at 40 because they identify as a 66 year old.
This isn’t a good argument about the invalidity of trans identities.

No. Hypocrisy is when people cry about climate change but keep living their lives exactly the same. What are you doing to combat climate change? You had offspring, that is the absolutely worse thing you can do for the environment. Stop ruining my planet.
