Admit it - what did you do to change the mojo?

Dec 29, 2019, 6:38 PM

It was 16-0, but could have been 28-0. I'm sure Tiger nation brought out the voodoo dolls and such to help the team shake the heebie-jeebies. Did you change your shirt, hat, beer, or what?

I was at a watch party and the mojo was not right from the start for me. I had a crappy seat and a bad waiter. I went home at 16-0 to watch it there. Before I knew it, it was 16-14 and knew I had made the right decision! :)

I had packed 2 hats. I literally changed hats when we went down 16, I said cant hurt. Then we started playing better and my daughters who hadnt watched a second of the game, came over and sat. We started performing poorly so I told them to go away, both of them. WE WON. Bad parenting, great fan.

I went outside at 16-0 to "calm down". Took a large combination wrench and beat the crap out of one of my river birch trees. Gathered my self and returned to my recliner. I remembered the way I was sitting during last years natty and started sitting that way again. Worked!

Basically your dog has no conception of what it is like when Clemson loses. In his mind--and admittedly in yours as well, I would guess--Clemson football is immortal and invincible. Okay, in my mind as well. So that's three of us. Only one of us, though, isn't embarrassed about both being naked and taking a leak out in the backyard, and that would be me.

I resisted changing my shoes. My orange sneakers have been good all year, so I didn't want to panic. I did find myself trying to remember which way I was crossing my legs during the good offensive stuff, so that I could get them the same way when we had the ball. I guess I guessed right, because it worked out.

Dec 29, 2019, 6:57 PM

I changed Clemson shirts a couple times during the game and finally just put on a regular t-shirt. 3rd time was the charm. I never wear a Clemson shirt during the week until game day. Only exception is if we aren’t playing that week. Last time I wore a Clemson shirt mid-week we lost to Pitt. Those around me know who I pull for so it’s no big deal but I’ve got to find a new “Lucky” shirt.

Once to her dresser, she pulled out her gameday purple pj pants and gathered a matching grey Clemson long sleeved t-shirt . . .

I also muted Herbie's tOSU slant . . . and listened in peace!!!

Mojo changed immediately.

Well my good natured wife and I took matters a little more serious. The outfits we have worn for two years were not working. We had to do as we have on a few away games over the last 10 years. At 16-0 with 7:30 to go in the first half we went to the bed room got naked and made love for 45 minutes. When we came back into the den at the end of half time Genny screams " It worked again the score is 16-14 ". I hated to miss it but it was worth it to see my Tigers get back on track.
However, we cannot help in New Orleans if we get behind as we will be at the game. We love each other and we love our Tigers!

Re: Admit it - what did you do to change the mojo?

Dec 29, 2019, 8:14 PM

We were in the club level on the Clemson side, but ended up having maybe 15 HS kids that were all nut fans sitting around us. They were over the top obnoxious, raising hell and just being typical teenage kids in a setting like that. My fiancee was having none of it and had chirped back at them several times early on, which didn’t help anything. Around the time the clock struck 16-0, I got into an argument with one of them and I went up to the club concourse area to cool off and grab a beer. I started talking to some Clemson couples and it seemed like almost instantly we scored a TD. By this point, my fiancée had joined me - we both wanted to go back to our seats and see if those kids had quieted down, but the couples we were talking to begged us not to leave. They argued we only started winning once we got up to that concourse area and we needed to stay. By the time we got TD#2, I started to believe them and #3 only cemented it.

Long story short, but we watched 2/3 of the game through the club concourse glass.

We have a very specific ritual. Involves what we eat for dinner (Steak) and specific seats for me and my grown sons. We watch at my house. Would not dare watch anywhere else. When they were younger we had a football signed by Tommy Bowden and would pass it around whenever we needed mojo. If it ever hit the floor it meant disaster. We all had real good hands.

I was thinking about them getting us back and shutting us out this time to wearing one of those head scarfs muslim women wear for a week so no one could recognize me (i did talk a lot of smack to coworkers who were OSU fans leading up to the game). Been over a year sober but It took everything i had to not stop by a gas station and buy couple of tall boys on my way home from work. I really didn’t change a thing. My buddies were asking what’s going on and mt reply is we play 4 quarters.
Another one said I hear the bus running in the second quarter. Didn’t hear much back after ter win, except their qb gave it away. Great 4 quarters by the Tigers.

I wasn't able to watch the first approx 1.5 quarters live. I turned it on right before the target on Trevor. You are welcome.

Last shot of Reserva De La Familia Jose Cuervo. Then grabbed a Dogfish Head Dead Ale. I been sick since Christmas Eve. Lungs sound like trash and was not going to drink. Something had to give.

I left the restaurant at 16-0.

Knew all the other restaurants would be packed, and I'm not a drinker so i didn't feel like sitting at the bar sipping tea.

No wifi at home, so i went to church.

Not kidding.

Okay, kinda kidding.

Listened on the radio during the targeting, ensuing drive, first TD and Buckeyes' 3-and-out. Laughed along with Brad Scott when he said only Dabo the Eternal Optimist would call time out at the end of a horrible half in order to get the ball back for another score by halftime.

Got the tablet set up with the ESPN app to stream off the church's wifi while sitting in the parking lot in my car just in time to see TL16's incredible scramble for the second TD before the half. But i missed out on whatever "i-told-you-so" from Brad that he was clearly entitled to.

Watched the remainder of the game from the cramped comfort of my car, whooping when appropriate, but couldn't go outside because of the rain.

Glad no cops checked up on the property as they sometimes do, or i might have been asked to move along. When i finally left, i saw they were all checking up on the school down the street.

All in all, except for being hoarse, cramped, wet and locking myself out, it was a great night!

Actually not one thing. I was, and still am, sick as a dog.
The Tigers did it on their own.
