Hot Rod Gardner. That was a great finish.

I was in the stands, front row of the student section for that one, about 20 feet away. Little did I know it'd be my last game as a student, as my parents pulled my tuition money due to not attending class enough to actually get credit for the next semester and a half.

I wish I could have gotten credit for a semester and a half for just attending class. (Sometimes attending was about all I did).

I took some creative liberties with drop credits and hiding grades from my folks before they realized what was going on...if I'd put half the energy into going to class that I did into pretending, I'd have a Clemson degree on my wall instead of a Winthrop one.

I used to work with this guy at one of my first jobs, he was in his mid 20's and from some island (Samoa or Micronesia or something). His parents had sent him all the way to Greenville to attend BJU. I guess his parents had money and had been wiring him cash for years - they thought he was wrapping up his Masters, in all actuality he had quit his sophomore year and was living in an apartment with his girlfriend, working with me in a restaurant on Laurens Rd and pocketing his parent's tuition money.
I ended up quitting and losing track of the guy, but 20 years later I've always wondered how that conversation went down.

I often wonder why some people go to college, other than to play and goof off. When I was at Clemson during its military college days, you were cut from the class if you missed more than two.

Was at that game. After the coots scored the go ahead, they were chanting hard "Blah Blah! Blah! BLAH!" They were so happy to win.
then BOOM! We're in FG range and Boom! We win! I chased my son (12) around the field as they brought the goalpost down (while pepper spraying people).
I remember they had to life flight somebody out who got crushed under the field goal!
what a night!

the family. Started to sleet as the winning FG went through the uprights! Overheard SCar fan lament “well, looks like hell just froze over!”
Trivia: who was the FG holder for that winning kick?
Hint: Just like now, he was related to a coach!

That fella wasn’t automatic from 19 yards, so I was still worried until he split the posts.

19 years ago, I was ALMOST young. Well, not really, so maybe we need to go for 30-40 years ago next time.

I was watching with my wife (girlfriend at that time) who was a chicken fan. (Praise God she has saw the light since then!!!) After SC scored to take the lead, I boasted “it’s okay we’re going to drive down and kick a field goal to win it !!!” When the ball split the uprights I ripped off my shirt and started spinning it over head and yelling “who’s your daddy?!?!”
