2017 MLB Draft

Jun 6, 2017, 4:48 PM

So, who do we lose in the draft that begins on Monday? TIA

Unless there are some significant surprises, we will lose the following Tigers:

Chris Williams
Charlie Barnes
Pat Krall
Reed Rohlman
Chase Pinder
Weston Jackson
Rudy Cox
Patrick Andrews

Best of luck in your future chosen professions, fellas. You have played the game the way it was supposed to be played and represented your university, and most importantly, your families very well.

We're gonna miss ya!

I don't see anybody on the list as a high draft pick

Jun 6, 2017, 6:01 PM

Williams is questionable pick now with shoulder injury. They could all come back but not sure they can increase their stock.

By all, I meant underclassmen***

BT,

Do you expect Eubanks, Jolly, Bryant, Byrd, and Higginbotham to all return next season?

What incoming commitments do we lose?

Jun 6, 2017, 6:31 PM

Class of 2018. TIA again.

Most likely Kier Meredith. He's the highest rated commit coming in I believe. He's an outfielder who is just unbelievably athletic and has ridiculous speed, but also hits for power. A lot like Pinder, only faster and probably a little more pop in his bat. That's the only problem...how good he actually is. He said if gets a good opportunity at the next level he won't pass up on it, and right now, he's projected to be a mid to late first round pick.

When did Kier Merideth say he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity? Most recruits do but I haven't heard or seen anywhere that he said that.

I do.

Higg can't go. He is only 2 years removed from high school.

Bryant is a good player but has had a rough season. He is elgible but draft stock is low right now so he lacks leverage.

Jolly is a gamer and although draft eligible he will be back I guess. First Neers crossed bc he is a solid young man.

Euby could go but I imagine he will return to be the staff ace. Another year won't hurt him and can only help.

Byrd, don't know but think he isn't eligible. If he was, he could go. But I doubt it.

Higg can go because of age but probably hasn't pitched enough. You must be kidding if you think Jolly or Bryant will go.

Re: 2017 MLB Draft

Jun 6, 2017, 7:53 PM

Never said they would, Ramrod. No need to be disrespectful to the boys. If they stay they will have specific roles to fill. Jolly as a DH bc his bat and knowledge of the game is great and KJ as an outfielder. Remember, Beer is likely to move to 1st base so we are going to need someone in RF.

Dang, folks are so quick to crush the boys. I don't get it.

I was looking for him as well. I did see him after the late gaming giving high fives but he wasn't in uniform? i figured he was injured

You can only have a certain number on the roster once the tournament starts. That's why Bryant and several others were not there. Coaches' decision.

Eubanks SHOULD go if he gets drafted. Nothing to gain by coming back.

From what I hear, there's a good chance Byrd is gone too.
