One fun tale I recall which fits this thread is Eric Clapton.
He was in the audience at a SRV concert. He said that at first it seems too loud, but soon he relalized it was perfect.

I was kinda fortunate as in they day they paid me money to protect bands in Charlotte. I was near stage at all the greats and got them to their limos after. Most of them were good folks and treated me well.
The best guitar solo I have heard live was Rickey Medlocke doing FreeBird at the Cherokee Casino.

There are dozens of personal favorites, could pick from I don't know how many semi-famous or obscure songs and guitarists. And famous ones like SRV, Eddie VH, Jimi, et al.
But for me, it needs to not just be great, it needs to be LEGENDARY.
