None of whom would be better than Brownell IMO. They are all lateral hires. No sense in that. Would rather keep Brownell

All of these coaches have been extremely successful in turning around programs quickly.

But none of them faced ACC talent!

To the poster who said: None of them has faced the ACC.

And neither has any other coach you would hire.

Couple of those guys I like if Brad really has a losing season more or two. I like Furman's coach a lot. Need to put Pat Kelsey on that list because he might be the best prospect of all of them. Hasn't lost at Winthrop yet this season and has won the Big South a couple of times already. Coached under the late Skip Prosser at Wake Forest.

There are some bigger names coaches who might want a change of atmosphere.

Don't think anything is going to happen in a COVID year even if the buyout is just $400k.

Covid didn't stop football coaches from being fired.

Yeah but basketball is not the cash cow that football is.

COVID will hurt a basketball program a lot easier because of stricter contact tracing with minimum players available.

Maybe if we were having a really bad losing season and not competitive at all. Say want you want but we are still in most projected bracketologist tournament selections as of now. Even if we totally crash and don't make it, we were in the picture most of the season.

Lost to Duke by 26, FSU 19, GaTech 18, UVA 35. I’d say that’s not competitive.

What I would recommend is

1

Jan 30, 2021, 9:29 PM

Find an old retired coach who had moderate success in his career..... and hire his son.

That would have to work!!! Right???

Anybody but

Brownell.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ridiculous post.

Jan 31, 2021, 1:41 PM

We could do a LOT worse than Brownell. Making a change simply because you are tired of Brownell is a bad reason.

If we decide to make a change, his replacement will hopefully be someone who has had success at the high major level already. If we are serious about winning, that’s the safest route.

How many seasons in a row have you said that and how many seasons

Jan 31, 2021, 1:41 PM

Has it not happened at the end of the season either? Maybe provides some hope that things could be better.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We are still an NCAA Tournament team as it stands right now.

Jan 31, 2021, 1:45 PM

Obviously we need to make some major changes from what we have been doing the last few games. It’s a long season, let’s see how things finish.

Goodness.

I don't think DRad will do it but if CBB steps down etc then I've been saying for 3 years to consider this guy. Pat Kelsey is a lot like Dabo.....

Why would we want a coach who was a Brownell assistant?

Just to finish this season, then hire a permanent replacement. This would give THESE players a chance to play better this year.

Horace Grant and/or Greg Buckner

Both have NBA credentials and Grant has rings and played with MJ & Shaq...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wait. Are we looking for them to play or to coach?

Pat Kelsey is a no brainer

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you’re wanting to replace a coach who has had success

Jan 31, 2021, 1:38 PM [ in reply to Re: Possible replacements for coach Brownell ]

at three different schools, and is our all-time winningest coach, with someone who has never coached on the college level?

Glad you aren’t the athletic director.

If there is an opening I would highly recommend we invite the coach and team members of Gonzaga to transfer to Clemson.
