Here is the tie breaker procedure:
(2) If the tied teams played each other twice in the regular season and split their games, then each team's record vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular season standings (or in case of a tie for first place, the next highest position in the regular season standings) and then continuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.
Using this, we both lost to UVA and we both split with UNC. Unfortunately NCST beat Duke and we lost so they would have the tie breaker. NCST plays at GT and at home against Louisville. We have to win out and hope they lose one of those games.
That FSU collapse really may come back to haunt us in so many ways. If we take care of businaess we have nothing to worry about except what we control and we probably dont lose Mitchell and may have been able to beat Duke and/or VT with a full roster.

out. That would put us in a 3-way tie for third place at 12-6. You would then take the total records in the 3-way tie. We would be 2-1, NCSU would be 2-2 and UNC would be 1-2. The tie-breaker is the highest winning percentage, which would slot us in as the 3 seed, NCSU as the 4 and UNC as the 5 seed. That is the best case scenario.

never seen us win any tiebreaker with those two but it would be fun to see in this case

All 3 teams would be 2-2 head to head

yeah I hope not but it is possible. of course had we won in Raleigh we would be ok now too. that was a close one it would be nice to have gotten

The dust will start to settle as the week unfolds.
The scenario no one is talking about is the one where we win both, UNC loses to Miami and Duke and then it doesn't matter what N.C. State does.
That is my favorite scenario...especially if State also drops one and we get the 3 seed

What happens if Clemson, UNC, and NC State all tie for 3rd with a 12-6 record? That seems very possible with UNC still having to play at Duke.

We finish 5th. Winning percentage at Duke would be the tiebreaker.
NC State would be 1-0.
North Carolina would be at least 1-1.
We are 0-1.
