His college education (and wreck any hope of an inheritance from me!  ). I asked him how the more liberal 'thought' affected him and he said it was 'refreshing'. Elaborating, he realized it served him no purpose to sit encapsulated within a group who all thought the same way, thinking that would give rise to correct answers/solutions...that was simply kidding oneself.
There are many...MANY on T-Net who should consider similarly. You may question if your principles are what you thought they were. If you're talking...you're for dayum sure not listening.  And there are talkers aplenty here...like a noisy bar all too often. Your beer's getting warm...have a sip...take a breath.

they were not affected by the brain dead liberals in college. Turns out that physics hasn't changed much since Sir Issac and engineering problems have no degree of wokeness. They understood that when they were talking some BS humanities class, they just had to write whatever the teacher wanted to read to get an A with hardly any effort at all.

Living in new places and surrounding myself with a diverse set of friends (both U.S. and overseas) helped to broaden my view point. College professors at Clemson didn't change that at all. New friends made along the way and new locations made the difference.

This is based on the supposition that your education might include even a simplistic understanding of the classic definition of liberalism and the traditions of John Locke and JS Mill.

I agree with the OP 100% if he is talking about the newspeak, progressive liberals that are, IMO, trying to fundamentally transform the nation. Heck, that is Biden's platform - he just tweeted it the other day.
The concern is if fundamentally transforming the nation includes: political correctness, erasing history, announcing your preferred pronoun before you speak, denouncing the nation as being innately bad, reparations to anyone, accepting riots and destruction of private property as part of a protest, being labeled a racist because you do not know the last 100 words and phrases that are now offensive but never used to be, dismantling the military so evil can threaten the globe again, a one-sided MSM, being okay with specific groups chanting about killing cops in marches, social media censoring conservative ideas and people, trying to implement the green new deal, being color-focused instead of color-blind, etc.
Go ahead call me the same things you call Trump. I have no common ground with you on any of these, and probably more, fronts. There is no need to exchange ideas because if you believe in or cause the above list of items to happen, you are already beyond gone IMO. I see you and your support of this ideology as a direct threat to me, my kids, and my grandkids. I will fight literally and figuratively to keep your ideas from being adopted by others and into laws.
If on the other hand, you're a reasonable "old fashioned" liberal who believes, for example, gays, women, trans, and people of all races and creeds should be given the same opportunities without discrimination, then I am all in with you. Let's get everyone educated and encourage education and individual responsibility! Let's fix what is broken, but not turn the USA into a socialist, marxist nation.
