And McIlwain has a good chance of going in the MLB draft.

For y'all's information, Jordan Smith was our 5th or 6th choice at DE behind Xavier Kelly, Tony Clayton, Chidi Okonya, and a couple others. Never had a chance to go here unless we missed on a bunch of better guys

Jordan Smith is better than chidi and staff would've took smith over him any day.

"Nobody has really reached out."

In other words, they really don't care...which is what happens when you have a lame-duck staff that is busy polishing their resumes...not that they were terribly proactive in recruiting even before Spurrier bailed on them.

This is going to be a grim Gamecock class before it's all said and done...the quality players are getting pulled away and whatever's left, however it ends up being rated, is going to be the guys who just plain didn't get any better offers.

If you look at the depth chart, it's even grimmer...they're losing Brandon Wilds and Shon Carson at RB, four offensive linemen including LT Brandon Shell, and three starters on defense...and LB Skai Moore and WR Pharoah Cooper - their only two real impact players - are apparently strongly leaning towards leaving early.

Which means, it's a gutted roster...with almost zero talent left, and they're also carrying a bunch of JUCO's who ended up not working out, as JUCO's tend not to.

That's about as grim as it gets.

DE Jordan Smith of Lithonia, GA has been committed to USC since July but with the Gamecocks' staff in transition, Smith is looking around his coach confirmed Monday. Smith was at Tennessee Saturday when the Vols played the Gamecocks. Lithonia coach Marcus Jelks said Smith might not stick with his pledge.

"I'm not really sure," Jelks said. "He's still kind of looking around. He graduates in December and with the uncertainty about who the guy will be, he's looking around to make sure he makes the right decision.

Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi State have been in contact with Smith according to Jelks. He also talked with USC recruiter Lorenzo Ward a couple of weeks ago. Jelks said Smith has not scheduled an official visit with the Gamecocks at this point.

"Nobody has really reached out," he said adding he thinks Smith will take official visits to Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi State.

Meantime, the Gamecocks Monday offered 2017 TE Alexander Marshall of Andover, MA.
