Please convince me otherwise

Ive been going back in forth in my mind on whether or not we beat UGA but im starting to get a little worried and not as confident as I was a couple months ago. Here is what worries me about this game
Comparing the two teams this is what I come up with
Offensively I think UGA has the slight edge: QB- even RB- UGA OLine-UGA WRs- Clemson TE- uga
Defense I would have to say even or a toss up dline- were more experienced but uga may have more raw talent LB- on paper we should have advantage but until steward and Anthony play to there potential im not convinced Secondary- Think both teams have young talent and we wont know until we see the field.
Im thinking to win some things will have to go our way. I think its a bad matchup for our defense just because we struggle with good passing teams, I think we can slow down gurshall like we did with lsu run game and usucks run game but uga will put up some points. Im praying the homefield advantage with ugas young defense we can start out hot like usuck did last year. 2 more weeks!

You could be right - since this is the first game for both..

teams it's hard to say has the edge.
If we win it will be a high-scoring game - don't think our defense will be ready in the first game of the season to hold them down.

You leave out a few HUGE factors.. The FANS... First game of the season.. GameDay.. 8:00 kick off.. The crowd will be electric.. Even more so that the GT game a few years back. Being the first game of the year.. That will be a huge factor for UGA.. This team will be ready to play.
If our Defense steps up and plays ball.. We win. That simple.
We get a late TD to make double digits and lock it up..
Clemson 38 UGA 27

We beat them easily. Our head coach is the difference. You can't stop Dabo.

On offense, you're about right, but you have to give different weight based on what's going to make a difference in the game. So here's what I think:
Offense
QB- Even, with slight edge to Boyd because of home field advantage and running ability.
RB- Georgia, but Clemson is going to get its yards. Georgia has the proven talent, but I don't think this is going to be a huge factor.
OL- Only slight to Georgia. Clemson's OL produced more rushing yards last year, and gave up about the same number of sacks as Georgia's did.
WRs (including TEs) - Clemson, but not as large as a lot of people think.
Defense
DL- Clemson. The Tigers return a bunch of guys on a deep DL that was tough against the run at the end of the year. Georgia was brutalized by hard- nosed running teams last year. Clemson also returns far more sacks on the DL than Georgia does (although UGA tends to have more sacks by LBs in their 3-4 scheme). I'm not really sure that Georgia has more "raw talent" on their line, either, considering how highly rated guys like Crawford, Watkins, and Watson were.
LB- Clemson. Clemson has more talent and depth here than Georgia does. Even if you're not convinced about Clemson's LBs, what would convince you about Georgia's LBs?
DB- Both are not great, but Clemson has more returning experience so I think you have to give the nod to them.
Overall:
Offense- Even, with slight edge to Clemson because playing at home.
Defense- Clemson, both because playing at home and because they're more experienced.
That said, neither advantage for Clemson is all that large, so Clemson is going to need one of their best games. Yes, UGA is going to move the ball, but as long as Clemson victimizes UGA's weaknesses like they've done with so many other teams over the last couple years, Clemson should be in position to win the game.

i'm glad they're going to play the game because there is only so much you can analyze, especially before either team has played a game....
for the record, i'll give UGA a bigger advantage at RB and OL because they're returning proven experience.... BUT, this all comes down to the defense on the other side of the ball, which is an unknown for both teams. Some would favor Clemson because some of the returning players, but freshman and jucos can make an immediate implact in some defensive positions, which could make UGA better than you think.

Clemson strengths match up to UGa's weaknesses moreso

than vice versa. DB's are inexperienced and thin at UGa, QB/Wr's are experienced and explosive at Clemson.
UGa will want to run, Clemson is okay there, not great. UGa is more balanced on offense, but Clemson's defense is better overall than last yr.
Punt and kick coverage will be important, b/c we sucked at it last yr and UGa is good at returns.
THe advantage is not large, though, so field position, turnovers, penalties could negate it.

Josh Harvey-Clemons

He is the leader of their defense now. I believe he led the team in yesterday's scrimmage. He is suspended for our game but they need to practice him becuase they have to be ready for USuC a week later. His absence and the very young DB's they will have starting is going to be the difference in this game. Our offense is going to get rolling and wear them out physically.
