Jeff Scott on keeping players fresh
Oct 19, 2015, 11:51 AM
|
|
We are interviewing OC Jeff Scott in the WEZ, and he said that Clemson's depth at WR was on display Saturday. He said the TD to Artavis Scott was his 39th snap of the day, the CB he beat was playing his 63rd.
Also...he gave us some great stuff on how DW4 checked out of plays twice that turned into big gains. I will get a story up as soon as possible..if you like X's and O's and the game within the game you will love it.

Anyway you can ask the coaches why we don't block anyone on punt returns?

Agreed! It is so annoying seeing 5 of the opposing team in the face of our returners with no blockers in sight.

I also can't wait for Ray Ray, Cain, Thompson, and company to get this year under their belt. All have done well, but I think they are more typical of freshmen than guys like Artavis, Sammy, Deshaun who were exceptional. Next year these guys should blossom. Tight ends will start to blossom too. Great now.....future better!

Chad smith is a stud too. Think he is only redshirting because he needs more size a d strength. I see him at 240 next year.

It has occurred to me that while DW is not racking up

gaudy stats and has not appeared to be as sharp as we'd like at times, he is doing a lot of things extremely well that don't make the highlight reels. The check downs, knowing when to take a sack or throw it away, the calm in the face of pressure, and his leadership and decision making will never show up on the stat sheet, but I guarantee you they are major reasons for our success. Sometimes I'm sure the decisions he makes come at a detriment to his stats, but he knows the only stat that matters is the "W". I look forward to reading more about it.

David; We need to do more of that. Running the DB's and then putting a fresh WR! Like taking candy from a baby!
