until today.
This dude, who was suppose to look at one pier tried to find EVERYTHING.
Got into an argument about the unit.
According to him, all ductwork has to be replaced. Since the unit is "old" his suggestion is to run all ductwork in the attic and put in a split unit.
To which I replied "You're ####### crazy if you think I'm doing that"
My reply: The unit is 10 years old.
His reply: "well that's towards the end of it's running life.
No, that's in the middle of it.
Well it's the old freon that's really expensive.
No it's not. It's the new freon.
Well it's probably fine, but the duct work need to be replaced.
Also you are missing 9 piers under the hallway.
The hallway is 6 feet long. Also, there are piers under the hallway. I've seen them myself
Well yeah there are piers but they are dry stacked and not done right.
Ok dude. Bye.

AC Units....

ASHRAE life expectancy is 15 years on a split system.
Old refrigerant is R-22. It can no longer be manufactured.
New refrigerant is R-410a.

They work.
The house was built in the 1880's. Major renovations (that I know about) in the 40's, 70's, and a few years back.
I know better than to go screwing with those foundations. They're perfectly happy the way they are... At this point adjusting them would be like playing Jenga.
