It's not so bad really.

There's a giant landfill near the stadium that makes for easy access for disposing of unwanted materials.

You can always float down the Saluda River where you will sometimes be chased by water snakes while navigating around the periodic sewer releases by Columbia-area business. It is really quite an exhilirating experience.
