Is having Dexter around the team a constant bummer,

Dec 26, 2018, 11:15 AM

a constant reminder of what might have been?

Is it time to accept that they are not playing, send those boys home and move on?

Seriously doubt it. Were it a distraction the coaches would send him home. It is my guess that he is encouraging his teammates and coaching them up

and team, there seems to be a bad vibe of disappointment. The coaches always say it's about the guys who are going to play, not the guys who aren't.

It seems like everyone is holding out hope, by having him there, that there is some chance that he can play. That just drags out the bad feelings right up until game time.

Send the kids home and let the rest of the team use it as a motivating factor instead of an albatross.

You can't really judge by appearances

Chuck -- we will win this game and hopefully the next. If we somehow lose to ND (don't see it), Big Dex and Clemson's focus on Big Dex and not ND will take most of the blame. Again, don't see it.

DL rated #1 in the country all year... Doesn't happen without Dex taking on two OLs on almost every play. A little adversity and you suggest abandoning him... that's an exemplary show of loyalty to a teammate. Your whole premise s u x, but I guess that's at least understandable...

yeah about like how they cratered the week kb left. (sarcasam for those of you sarcasm impaired)

Very similar situations, but one key difference.

Dec 26, 2018, 11:40 AM

It was an extremely difficult week, as players and coaches attested, but KB was gone, the team moved on and he is but a distant memory. We struggled to win that game. Almost lost it.

KB was not nearly as important a player to the team as Dexter is, but once the team knew he was gone for good, they were able to rally around the remaining team.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure I agree with what you say - the QB is the single...

most important player on most teams. He doesn't have other QBs playing alongside him like players on the D line. You can't make a direct comparison between the two positions.

Sure, of course Dex being out will be missed. We all know that. But he has able people filling in behind him that will make him proud.

No reason to send Dex home unless he's a negative distraction. My guess, though, is that he's encouraging his teammates in every way he can.

True, but TL is a much better QB than KB. TL is an

upgrade at the most important position. We actually improved dramatically at the position with TL in there.

DL commands a double team in the middle of the defensive line, creating opportunities for his teammates. That will be lost with him out.

The situations are similar in that they are unsettling hurdles that the team must overcome. One situation made the team better, one did not.

Could also be a motivating factor though to see their brother there alongside them to remember what they're fighting for and help them get pissed off during the game to pump them up more if needed. It's not necessarily a sap on their emotions. It could be a boost to their emotions and intensity. After all, he is one of the power rangers and if he's on the sideline you could at least just keep it in your mind like he's out for a few snaps which might help their mindset to not stress it so much.

Have to agree it's a pretty lame comment about Big Dex. The man has been around for 3 years, we've won most games with him, and some without him. Been a part of the team for 3 years, and you're thinking its a downer for him to be around? Lordy, where did that come from.

Just this once I'll give you the +TU.That pulse though...

Dec 26, 2018, 2:27 PM [ in reply to Re: Is having Dexter around the team a constant bummer, ]

I just think Chucky is being waaaaaaayyy to melodramatic.AND wanting Tiger Nation to suddenly turn our backs on a player who has been nothing but a positive for our Clemson Tigers. That is the messed up part of the op.

GO TIGERS!!BEAT THE DOMERS!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NO!

Dec 26, 2018, 2:48 PM

As long as the guys are still all in and the rest of the team wants them around, they should stay.

This appears to be entirely different from the Cain & Lakip suspensions, which were egregious and self-inflicted.

And nothing whatsoever like the issue of Kelly Bryant quitting on the team.

He is coaching other players

First of all, they're not getting sent home, and Dex is assisting the coaches with practices. I have serious concerns for anyone who would question if a team leader would be a distraction.
