I'll ask again

Aug 27, 2016, 1:05 PM

We now have an NFL player refusing to stand for the national anthem because the United States is oppressing African Americans....

What specifically are we doing to oppress anyone?

This provides some hints as to what he's concerned with:

Did you notice some of the tweets from Shaun King?

Posting a snapshot of a conversation between white private school kids.....

This is the extent people are going to to find racism.

What do you mean by that last sentence? That the only racism left in America is between white private school kids?

Re: Get out of your bubble

Aug 27, 2016, 4:45 PM

My bubble has included many African Americans....

I played ball with them growing up, worked with them, go to church with them....none of them were oppressed.

In fact in my experience I have seen more racial stereotyping towards whites by blacks than vice versa....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow. None of them were oppressed and whites have it

I'm smart enough to recognize that all races show their fair share of prejudice towards others.

Aug 27, 2016, 5:22 PM

Again, just because someone experiences racism doesn't mean they are being "oppressed".

Kaepernick is a multi millionaire for gosh sakes and he wants to talk about oppresssion....real oppression is not being able to play in the NFL because you're black....those hurdles were overcome decades ago but we have to have racial division today because some arrogant celebrity decides to cause a stir.

Aug 27, 2016, 8:10 PM

#### up about oppression, we wouldn't have any racial division in this country?

Also, I think it's fantastic that you played ball with and went to church with some black people, and as such, are 100% certain that they aren't oppressed. You have some amazing powers of insight, friend. Use them for good.

Re: So you're saying that if black people would just shut the

Aug 27, 2016, 9:02 PM

Me thinks you need to look up the definition of the word oppressed which would mean being refused service at a restraunt or made to sit in the back of the bus....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What you're describing is discrimination, not oppression,

Aug 27, 2016, 9:07 PM

and it's delineated quite clearly in our system of laws. Methinks YOU may actually want to look up the definition of oppression, rather than just telling me what you think the definition is.

Re: What you're describing is discrimination, not oppression,

Aug 27, 2016, 9:18 PM

Oppression is defined as "unjust treatment or control"....

Tell me specifically how in the United States of America in 2016 African Americans are being oppressed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

maybe you should ask them

We all get to exercise our rights.

In what way are African Americans being oppressed in the United States in 2016?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It's his choice. It's my choice which games I watch.***

Aug 28, 2016, 3:44 PM

Try sending out identical resumes to companies and only change the names on those resumes. Make some of them white sounding e.g. Tyler and some black e.g. Tyrone and see what kind of results you get.

This exact thing has been tested and the black sounding names consistently get less call backs from companies.

That's just one of many examples of how racism is still oppressing african americans today.

Does that answer your question? You act as though racism isn't a thing anymore.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It's his choice. It's my choice which games I watch.***

Aug 28, 2016, 4:20 PM

Never said racism doesn't exist but it goes both ways and just because someone experiences it doesn't mean their race is being oppressed....

There are a number of variables that go into sorting through resumes and selecting people for interviews....if you have statistics to prove that I'd love to see them.

I spend a lot of time with both white and african american youth and the difference in discipline and respect for authority is obvious....the bottom line is african americans are oppressing themselves more than anything.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It's his choice. It's my choice which games I watch.***

Aug 28, 2016, 4:41 PM

What? Discriminating against someone's race IS opressing them.

And no, I'm not going to look up the stats for you for two reasons:

1. You can easily google them for yourself
2. Scientific evidence doesn't seem to sway you anyway

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It's his choice. It's my choice which games I watch.***

Aug 28, 2016, 4:53 PM

Yea I've read a lot of articles that claim all these statistics of black oppression but there is one variable that is always left out and that is that the individual's situation when it comes to their incarceration or lack of employment is a direct result of the choices THEY make....

There was a time when african americans were oppressed and great people fought to overcome it....punks like Colin Kaepernick and movements like BLM are an embarrassment and a slap in the face to people like MLK Jr.

It's nothing man. Folks be extremely ignorant and racist.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe someone should ask him who is being oppressed.

Aug 28, 2016, 5:00 PM

I mean, a specific person he knows.

Who are they?

What was the oppression?

Then go file a complaint against the oppressor.
