If Dabo is ever ready to move on

Dec 28, 2020, 6:36 PM

I think he’d be an awesome GM for a NFL team! His expectations and support for the coaching staff and players would be incredible! He’s the caliber you’d want in that position. I really can’t imagine the dynasty he could build!

Go Tigers!

Are there any great coaches that became great General Managers, or even athletic directors?

I know years ago that the head football coach was also the AD at a lot of schools (Bear Bryant, for one). But those days were far different. Bear Bryant was the AD so he could control the budget for the entire department. He really wasn't a director. He had an assistant who ran all the other programs with whatever money was left over after he got what he wanted.

Well there’s Ray Tanner. He’s been awesome for us!

Honestly I think the NFL is too "win at all cost" for somebody like Dabo. Too many players and coaches wouldn't qualify to be a part of his team to be successful.

If everything Dabo says about college coaching in general

Dec 28, 2020, 7:23 PM

and specifically about coaching at Clemson is true, then it is hard to ever see him being attracted to the professional game in any capacity.

Professional franchises are not “family” ... professional coaches and GMs do not “mold young men.”
