If a team is ineligible for post season games they shouldn't

Nov 1, 2012, 4:53 PM

even be ranked. What a waste of the spot in the polls.

I'd agree of course I also think probation should mean no bowl. in some cases it doesnt. so what is the point then? at least Oh St wont be going anywhere this year though

Make them prove themselves worthy of a high rank

Nov 1, 2012, 5:01 PM

once they are off probation Just like any other team that's playing by the rules (Non SEC of course)

What happened to TV probation?

Nov 1, 2012, 5:08 PM

In the old days, probation meant you could not be live on TV either.

Am I wrong, but has Penn State been on TV every single week this year, yet probation?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

$$$$$$ - the networks don't allow it, I'm sure. To me that

Nov 1, 2012, 5:11 PM

was a HUGE punishent that should be part of it. Tell a kid he's not going to be on TV and he will seriously consider going somewhere else.

E$ecPN would never stand for that.....

Nov 1, 2012, 5:14 PM

considering that at any given time at least half of the $EC is likely to be on probation.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

which further proves the NCAA is "controlled" by outside

Nov 2, 2012, 10:01 AM

interests. When ESPN can determine no TV ban due to $$$, isn't that the same as the NCAA bowing to them?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They stopped TV bans

Nov 1, 2012, 5:36 PM [ in reply to What happened to TV probation? ]

The original reason is that it was ruled to be too harsh on the opponents of the offending team

Then OSU playing Penn State could have been left off TV... and UNC versus Miami.

Definitely when two teams playing each other is on probation... no TV.

It just seems to me that I have seen Penn State on TV MORE this year, than any in the past. Like ESPN wants to televise every game BECAUSE of the scandal and probation. Not in spite of.

They arent ranked in the coaches. I guess the AP just figured.. "what the heck, our poll doesnt matter anyway."

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ohio St is not in the bcs poll or coaches poll***

any pictures to go with your post today?***

the AP poll doesn't really count for anything anyways***

It also punishes their opponents though

Nov 2, 2012, 10:08 AM

I would be pretty pissed if I couldn't watch a clemson away game because the team we were playing was on TV probation.

Re: If a team is ineligible for post season games they shouldn't

Nov 2, 2012, 10:11 AM

they aren't allowed to be ranked in the Coaches or BCS rankings so doesn't really hurt anybody. Plus when you look at SOS, is it fair for teams that play against them to not have that.

"Clemson has been historically better than Carolina. That's pretty obvious." - Classof09

"No one knew we were overhyped until the season started." - Classof09

It doesn't matter

Nov 2, 2012, 10:13 AM

The Big 10,11 is irrelevant. That's why ND wants to be affiliated with the ACC. It's all down South.
