Why are people even talking about postponing (which wont happen) or moving the gametime up

Becasue they are talking about HISTORIC rainfall.

With it coming down at 4-5 inches per hour. 1 inch per hour is a gully-washer that can cause flash floods. Double that and it can turn lawns into ponds and fill up roads.

People leaving a game at midnight in such conditions from rain soaked lots can create a nightmare.
