ask them what they think and I would bet $1000 that their response would be the video boards are awesome.
You can't design the placement of a functional item like a video board to fit with the "design" of a football stadium without spending a ton of money. The big question is, why would you? I'm a civil engineer, and I appreciate well designed structures, but functional additions to a structure like a football stadium are not worth the cost to fit the stadium overall design features.
99% of the fans are just happy to have more options to see a replay. Shoot, in many of the day games the glare from the sun on the board in the east endzone is so bad it is hard to see. I like seeing replays, and the boards in the west endzone look great to me.

we've never been very good having any kind of sustained theme to any of the architecture at Clemson. we have a few pretty buildings but also some awful looking ones. Strode and the newer dining hall come to mind as ghastly ones

lot all game and get wasted. But I am proud of the fact that Death Valley is one of the nicest stadiums anywhere. I mean, do you really not appreciate Death Valley after you have been to NC State, Williams Brice, GT,etc. Those places are dumps.

They are very awkwardly positioned which makes it look cheap, like when the ribbon boards only covered the middle of the upper deck. Just looks cheap. The "Clemson" and "Tigers" above each board helps though, but not nearly enough. They certainly look misplaced

I would be all set to take them down period. I would rather hear the band play or the crowd cheer during time outs. Heck, we don't even get to see what everyone wants to see anyway, A CONTROVERSIAL replay.

but I don't think the placement of their scoreboard reflects their academic capability any more than I think the placement of these new "ribbon" scoreboards in DV is reflective of Clemson's School of Architecture

enhance them with brick trim. I always thought they should mount them on the light standards in each corner. Have 4 large displays in each coner. I am sure they would hold them. You could easly have a bracket made that would support them.

Exactly. That is what I suggested the other night. If there was a way to move them over just a little bit further into the corners, kinda where the light things are then that might be a solution. Maybe it is more costly to support them in that area. I dont know.

The video boards look fine. There is no need to make it fit in since technology changes so much. We'll probably be replacing them with something newer and better in a few years anyway.

Especially given the limitations they had to work with as far as location, dimensions, and visibility. I think they'll look even better once they're showing video.
