I don’t get all the moaning over the fight last night...

Nov 15, 2019, 10:29 PM

There was a time when this was normal in the NFL. Twisting ankles, biting fingers off, gouging eyes out was the regular. That fight was nothing like the old days. I remember a time when men had balls of steel. Now there are bunch people acting like a bunch of nancies over a simple little shoving match. But here came along a bunch of snowflake baby boomers and millienals crying like babies about this. What’s next Nancy Piloosi and the dims holding hearings over this. The pussifycation of America. I miss the time when men would let their balls hang low. Now they suck em up and act like snowflakes. Come on America get some balls.

Real men in the past didn’t wear helmets, and most players were toothless. Ah the good ol days

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

It’s clear you’ve never played football.

Nov 16, 2019, 1:08 AM

If you had even for a minute, you’d know reflexively how vulnerable one is without a helmet on the field and how dangerous the combination of you without it and a person swinging one at you really is.

You simply don’t know what you’re talking about in this or any other time.

That was absolutely fantastic. Especially, the end when instead of apologizing, he said, "If I had a chance to make him swallow his helmet, I would have done it." Alzado was a monster on the field. It's a shame that is probably what cut his life short as well.

Keyboard warriors always talk the toughest. It’s easy to see you’ve never been hit in the head with a football helmet, or probably ever even been in a fight. Just FYI, I’m Gen-x and a conservative. I noticed you skipped Over my generation, so I’m chiming in for us. Surely you can’t really be as clueless as this post portrays, and you’re just posting for the reaction.

Riiiight. "Back in the day," real men lived in caves, killed with rocks and sticks and ate raw meat. Life expectancy was what, 20 years? Yeah, those were good times. We are more civilized now, let's keep it that way

Football is a brutal, emotional sport. All the pr this week because a fight broke out at a football game is generated by people who try to pretend football is something that it is not.

Vicious fighting takes place on a lot of plays in a every game. We've seen one of our guys astraddle and an opponent this year flailing away trying to knock the other guy out. Most of us saw Yusef Kelly kicking a Gamecock player in the head as the Gamecock lay on the ground with his hands covering his head and face. Yusef is a nice guy who is married, has a couple of kids and lives in Easley now. He's not a monster, never was and all the gnashing of teeth over the Clemson/SC fight was about like the mock horror this week over a helmet swung at another guy on tv.

Men play sports. They get in brutal fights over their sport. Nolan Ryan with a headlock on the batter who charged the mound trying to knock the guy stole cold out and perhaps be lucky enough to also break the batters nose comes to mind. Throwing the baseball 98MPH and hitting the batter in the head or face comes to mind.

Yep, the violence this week in pro football was illegal and the player needs to be disciplined. Those of you who are aghast that football is violent, emotional, uncontrolled and sometimes deadly sport might ought to follow swimming or chess and stay away from football.

What happened doesnt happen in the NFL generally. It was as rare as it gets.

Trying to brain somebody with a helmet is kind of excessive, Harley.

Actually the same thing happened with my high school back in the day. Some of our JV guys got in a scrum with Walhalla and some of ours tried to brain some of theirs with their helmets as well...the school system ended up cancelling all of our high school's JV sports for that year as punishment.

And this was 1990, I believe.

People get all excited-like when you try to bash somebody's skull in.

People get all excited.....

Nov 16, 2019, 10:45 AM

Yep. That's why the photo of Kelly kicking the Gamecock in the head cost us a lower tier bowl game.

It's interesting to me that baseball has had big brawls, some involving bats, for 100 years with comparatively little action by the authorities or reaction by the press.

Show me where a baseball player has actually hit another baseball player in the head with a bat.

or the good ole days. In the good ole days, men fought with fists, not guns, knives or helmets!

The NFL should take some notes from Alzado and Romanowski (and the entire sport of hockey). Having a few designated "villains" is good for ratings.
