closing polls at 5, ending Sunday voting, not allowing people to bring water to people in line, eliminating absentee ballots, closing down polling locations, I mean this Bill is so hideous it is beyond description. I suggest you get the full cliffs before passing this off as a simple voter ID law. This thing is aimed is squarely aimed at blacks and working-class peeps.
But then again, I guess if you all do not want to see the south slowly turn purple, this is really the only MOVE the GOP has left, which to me is a sign of desperation. I mean you kind o cheat when you know you are losing.
This entire bill was created due to the shenanigans that Abrams pulled. She filled out absentee ballots and went door to door to get signatures for votes. That's not voting, IMHO. The only form of "ID" the voter needed was a signature. No other proof needed for absentee ballot.
Weekend voting was expanded. Drop boxes being pulled 4 days before the election isn't really a change. The vote had to be received by the day of the vote. That insures their votes will be counted and not voided.
The water and food provision is stupid. No idea why that was put there.
GA still have 'no excuse' absentee voting which means anyone can cast an absentee ballot.
The 5pm is a farce. It allows counties to standardize from as short as 9-5 or as long as 7-7.
It also adds the ability for Sunday voting based on the county. So if a dark blue county like Fulton doesn't want to add Sunday voting, that's voter suppression by Republicans? Okay.
Dems also objected to the Secretary of State overseeing the election. Abrams cried foul when she lost and said it was shady of the SofS. ###### if you do, ###### if you don't.
The bill has flaws, agreed. But it's not even close to Jim Crow 2.0.
