Duke Energy math

Doesn't seem quite right.

Also, has anyone ever checked their bills from Duke? I did a lil investigating last week and it seemed I was being overcharged slightly each month. It could be that I was missing a "hidden fee". Will investigate further.

Apparently utility billing errors are a big thing

Apr 13, 2021, 10:05 AM

there are accounting firms out there that make their living off of finding errors and getting refunds for customers (and taking their 33% of course)

Apr 13, 2021, 10:08 AM

no need to check anything, even if they are falsifying the whole thing.

I'm averaging $178.85 per MO over last 12 MOs

Apr 13, 2021, 10:18 AM

My low was $84.04 in OCT
My high was $320.12 in JAN

It appears I have been overcharged $93.95 over the last 12 months unless the my rate calcs are off.

I can't get mine quite that low but also I top out at $150, mostly due to the gas logs.

I need to stop running this AC and/or heater all the time.

Power bill 6 month running average has been $275+ for the last year almost. It used to be around $215 or so. I haven't had a bill under $200 since November 2018 ($199) and before that, it was May 2018.

I think the $/kwH has gone up though, I need to research that (or my timeline is off)

May 2018 - 1869 kwH used, bill is $162.00 ($0.08668/kwH)
November 2020 - 1966 kwH used, bill is $245.00 ($0.12462/kwH)

Probably. Do your kids leave every light on at all times

and run water hot AF and your room is the hottest in the house so the AC runs all night trying to keep it cool while the rest of the house is a chilly 65 degrees? If so, basically the same. Otherwise, you just live with people who are a little more efficient in their daily lives.

I work from home, so the power has certainly been higher in the last year.
