Here is how CFP requirements should be tweeked for the better...

a team NOT winning their conference championship could NOT get in over a conference champ with an equal or better record. That would rule out any one loss non conference winner getting in over a one or zero loss conference champ.

The committee's job is to pick the 4 best football teams

This system would run completely counter to that

"Four best teams" is totally subjective!! Subjectivity should

be reduced to the minimum!! So, you would be fine with an undefeated Clemson getting left out of the playoff, just because the committee didn't think we "looked like" one of the four best teams??

Sooner or later, THE SO CALLED BEST teams have to win on the field. A team not winning it's conference isn't one of the best.
Last year the media tried to insert UGA, a couple a years ago, a THREE loss SoCal was being pushed because they playing the BEST, according to the media.
Like this year, if LSU can't beat Bama and win their conference, why should they get a SECOND chance at them ?

Bama would’ve been out two years ago when the won the whole thing. Actually I agree with you but this point will be used to argue for the “eye test”. Unfortunately that seems only to apply to Bama.

Bama got to skip out on a 13th game. Rest up. Heal up. Avoid new injuries. Spent extra time scouting potential opponents. Unlike the other participants. The fact they won it all after getting that unfair leg up shouldn’t be used as a justification to do it again.

Sure, Bama getting 5 weeks to get ready and us getting only 4 weeks to get ready was the difference in our game against them that year. Give us an extra 7 days and we definitely manage to score more than 6 points.

LMAO...it already IS that way.
The only reason Bama got in in 2017 was that the"comparable" conference champ OH St was a 2 loss team... Alabama was a 1 loss non champ. The team they were compared with though was not an undefeated team. They actually had more losses than Alabama, who only didn't go to the SEC Championship because of a loss to Auburn last game of the season. So they compared a one loss team (who had dominated the majority of their season at #1) with a 2 loss conference champ to decide.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but OhSt was a one loss team!

I think you are confusing OhSt 2017 with Penn St a couple years before, when they won the B10 with 2 losses, but the committee selected one loss OhSt instead.

Easy day to fix....
Make it eight teams. 5 Power 5 conference champions and three at large. The three at large could be someone out of the power 5 (ie UCF), ND, or a one loss team that couldn't win their conference.
Play round one the week after conf championships so the kids can break after for finals / graduation. Round 3 and national championship same as before.
Committee would obviously be subjective on ranking the 8 teams, but you can't get around that. No one can complain, everyone would have their shot on the field.
Go Tigers !!!
