crashing referred to as "Augering In." Must be an inside joke among pilots. I guess it refers to a plane spiraling down as it crashes.

The test pilots, the pioneering astronauts, the WW2 veterans. Leaders, risk takers, patriots. We still have some men like that today, but not like back then when everything was so new and uncertain and they lived under the shadow of the Soviet Union and the potential of nuclear war. Sad to see them go....
